    Exclamation Denso EEPROM NOT PRESENT

    Hello again guys

Following on from my previous thread, some of you know i've been having a few problems reading this Denso ecu from a Nissan x-trail.

I have now managed to read the ecu. but in K-Suite it doesn't give me the option to read the eeprom:

As you can see from the imaged it says "EEPROM NOT PRESENT".

The point in me reading this ecu is to transfer the immobiliser from one ecu to another while keeping the original ecu intact.

I thought that maybe they had written some immo files into the flash but i compared the files from both ECU's and they are exactly the same.

Does anyone know why i'm getting this message in ktag?

It takes 5 minutes to open the case and read the eeprom with a plethora of dirt cheap programmers. Why would you waste days trying to get ktag working for something so simple?

I have no idea about ktags capabilities of reading the eeprom in this ecu but I have seen schematics before where separate power probes are needed to power the eeproms in order to include them. if you really are doing it just for fun then I suggest you use an oscilloscope and monitor the eeprom itself during the time ktag is attempting to read. Its possibly just not powering the eeprom so its not picking it up. Something like that or maybe its just not designed to read that area regardless.

Ktag will never read because the sotware does not detect if there is eeprom or not and adjust read options accordingly, the reading options are hardcoded based on ecu model, so developer have not considered usefull adding eeprom reading as option when he wrote the plugin for that ecu.

Simply it is not implemented in ksuite.

Tl866 II from http://www.xgecu.com/en/ Its an excellent tool. I have oem carprog, xprog and orange 5 but still tl866 is one of my most used readers.

Your carprog issues are just from a bad connection. Thats why I made myself a direct solder adapter for it instead of using clip.

    Thanks

I've looked at the TL866II Plus in the passed but i always think the built quality looks really bad like the EZP2019 programmer (that could be the colour...).

So you think its better than the Xprog?

tl866 and xprog are two completely different beasts. Serious work will require both.

tl866 from actual distributors is pretty decent build quality actually. Cloned xprog's are mostly garbage and unstable as is, much like cloned carprogs. They will require some special attention.

I've been looking into the TL866 Plus programmer, and it does look very good.

Strange thing is that there seems to be a lot of fakes on these that sell for the same money as the genuine ones.

all links say to use this site to check if yours is genuine:

    https://www.autoelectric.cn

but the site looks an exact clone of the http://www.xgecu.com/en/ site you gave.

    Is this a sister site?

XGECU is same place they switched sites when they came out with tl866 ii+ no idea why they switch probably something to do with combating clones of the original tl866.

    Sellers
    http://www.xgecu.com/en/TL866_Dealer.html
