Default Toyota Avensis 2007 Master keys lost

    Hello,

I've bought a 2007 avensis, but it only had a grey 'valet' key with it. This isn't a master key so I am unable to make a new key, or set up a remote. I can only lock the car via the door lock.

I think I know what to do... but I need a bit of advice to get there!

    I have:
    an original valet key
2 keys cut from the valet key with used remotes & transponders from ebay
    a EZP2019 eeprom programmer
a used immo for 2007 avensis off ebay (same part No)

I am OK with a soldering iron & rework station, and don't have any problems removing the 24c04 to erase & program it
(I got this to work on so not to damage the original in my car)

Does anyone have a virgin Immo file for this car?
I have looked at the data on the 24c04 from ebay immo box, and it appears to hold key data only, but if I clear the data & plug it into the avensis, it is not doing anything even after hot-wiring the OBD 4-13 for 30 mins.

I have the feeling that I am nearly there... just missing somthing obvious! - (or I am completely off track)

    Any help would be appreciated!

Post your dump 24C04 and more info or pics of your immo box.

    Hi,

I have a dump of the immo bought off ebay - it is exactly the same part number & from the same year avensis. The part number is 89780-05030.
I am a bit reluctant to desolder chips off my exisiting immo, as the car still starts with the grey key... I don't think I would damage it, but I would rather not take the chance!

If I can get a virgin immo file, what is the procedure to get it working?

    this is just a guess...

write virgin file to the immo
    place into car
    reattach car battery
insert 3 keys for 10 seconds without turning, last key is valet
short pins 4 & 13 on ODB for 30 mins
insert 1st key & try to start car...
    ???

    Try this mate.

    Drivers door opened
    Ignition ON
Short pins 4 & 13 on OBD for 30-45 mins
    Remove short from 4 & 13
    Ignition OFF
    Wait around 30 sec.

The key used for this procedure should become the master key, rest of keys register
    via diagnostic equipment.....

It is wise to backup eeprom from ECU before doing this, just in case !!!

OK, I seem to have killed my car!

    This is what I did:

    I disconnected the battery
Removed original immo box (put to one side for safety)
Wrote the virgin file to the ebay immo box (& checked the file was there)
reconnected the ebay immo into the car
    reconnected the battery
(left the battery with a charger attached)
Master key in, with ignition ON
Short pins 4 & 13 on the OBD
    - security light constsntly ON
    waited about 35 mins
    remove short from OBD
    turned ignition OFF
waited about 30 seconds before removing the key.
    Reinsert master key
    - security light flashes twice, then twice again i.e. ....**..**.....**..**.....**..** etc
turn ignition, car starts badly for about 2 seconds then stops
    remove master key
    - securitry light constantly ON even when key removed, and car locked, and stays on (even after 30 mins)

    Disconnected the battery
Replaced ebay immo with my original immo
    reconnected the battery
Grey valet key in ignition and ON (this was the only key I had from original)
    shorted OBD pins 4 & 13, waited 30 mins
    removed short from OBD
    removed key
    Insert valet key
Security light lit for 2 seconds then OFF (just like it used to with the valet key)
Start the car - it runs badly for 2 seconds then stops!
With no keys in the ignitionl the security light blinks slow & steady like it always has.

    Help!

Default Toyota Avensis 2007 Master keys lost

I understand you now have your grey key programmed as master, maybe need program the other two using diagnostic equipment. Maybe need other keys to be programmed before start is allowed.

Just a thought (i am not specialist in toyota at all).

The grey key is still linked to the original immo, but won't start the car...

It seems that I can't get the immo to talk to the ECU, even after 35mins with obd 4-13 shorted.

Is there a fuse that could have blown?

I noticed that if I wobble the key in the ignition without being turned, the boing sound is intermmitent

Will I be better off with a 2nd hand replacement key & ECU set from ebay?

What diagnostic tools you have available?
Did you do ECU eeprom backup and what is ECU part number and brand ?
From ebay I would suggest to get this and do the job properly ...

At your suggestion, I have bought the techstream kit - I justy need to lean to use it! Are there any useful tutorial vids out there?

I have also bought a chip clip for the 24c04 - I have desoldered & soldered the eeprom on the ebay backup at least 12 times now, although the chip appears fine, I'm sure the circuit board is feeling the pain..

I have attacvhed the binary dump from my original immo - the one for the grey key. This immo appears to recognise the key, but won't talk to the ecu.

I've also attached the dump of the ebay immo after the virgin was flashed to it, fitted & tried in the car then removed. Don't know if this will help...

The ebay immo is the exact same model as the original - Valeo, Toyota#89780-05030, circuit board exactly the same component for component.

I think this is the simplest way to make your car run again.

Put the original modules back on the car.
    With techstream run “health check”
    Clear all DTC’s

Attempt to start the car (ignition on and off a few times)
    Health check again.
    Post health check report.

Depending on the fault codes we can continue diagnosis.

After reading the whole thread I lost what you want to do in the first place.
So here is what to do.
If you have techstream already go to this website and purchase five tokens, this is minimum.
    https://www.weboctopus.nl/lexus-scio...calculator.php
They support Pass-Code generator upto version 14.10.033
In the techstream go to Smart Key and then SmartCode Reset. Wait about 16 minutes to complete.
Then go to the SmartCode Registration program key and start the car.
