Default Audi A4 B5 cluster swap VCDS: Channel 50 not available

    Hey there

I am having an issue with a cluster swap on my Audi A4 B5 MY 2000.
I was having issues with the original cluster (known problem of lights going on/off, needles going up/down...). I decided to buy a new cluster off ebay. I managed to pull the pins for both the old and new cluster with VAGTacho. I then tried to use VCDS to do the swap but when I try to put in the original Immo PIN into the replacement cluster through 21-Adaptation, I am getting an "Error Channel 50 not available" whch prevents me from completing the swap. FYI, the engine starts and runs fine with the original cluster but when the replacement cluster, the immobilizer light flashes.
Would you know what I am doing wrong?
Below the Autoscan of the original and replacement clusters. As well, the measuring blocks for the orginal+replacement clusters.
    Thanks for the help

    Hey @brend

The replacement cluster came without ignition keys, I will be using my original keys.

I think the 2 clusters are the same. See below
The original cluster part # is
    Part No: 8D0 920 900 M
    Component: KOMBI+WEGFAHRS. M73 D56

The replacement cluster part # is:
    Part No: 8D0 920 900 M
    Component: KOMBI+WEGFAHRS. M73 D51

    Thanks

Hi, first set coding 00040 from old cluster! Keys must bee adapted . New transponders must be used only if booth ECU ( cluster and engine) is changed.

Hey armi, thanks for your answer. A few follow ups questions:
-Are you referring to soft coding # 00040 for the original cluster and soft coding # 00060 for the replacement cluster? What should I do with that?
-I thought the key needs to be adapted after the PIN from the old cluster is moved to the new cluster via Adapatation and then channel 50. Isnt that correct?

    Thanks again

Not sure what you mean. The orginal cluster comes from another vehicle and I am not sure if it is locked. How can I find out? Thanks

Thanks guys. I understand now your 00040, my car is a 4 cylinders but the new cluster comes from a 6 cylinders because it was 00060. So i changed that.

But more importantly I was following Immo3 cluster swap procedure when my cluster is Immo2. I was convinced my cluster was Immo3 but apparently not. So adter following Immo2 steps everything works well. Problem solved.
