    Default Dual boot help?

    Hi

    Running windows 7 and need xp so partitioned, installed xp and alls fine except when i turn pc on I dont get both boot OS appear, it just boots straight into XP

    Any ideas how to get both OS to appear on boot up?

    Instal winxp first then win 7, if win 7 uses same boot loader as vista then it will hog it to latest version of windows, or use multiple boot software

    look in msconfig and see if both o/s are listed ln the boot ini as one could be set as default as it could stop you having a choice.

    Thanks guys

    Sorted, because I had 7 installed first the xp bootloader overwrote the 7 bootloader so used software to re-install 7 boot loader and now gives option of both OS when pc is switched on

    Now that I have dual boot anyone know why when I fire up in xp my network connection takes a few minutes to connect but in 7 it is instant?

    OS install was 7 first then xp

    win 7 is quicker
    Wavefield Ds 55cm at 13E 19E and 28E receiving everything out there on 2 dm800hd

    yeah I know that but when i was running just xp it never took a few minutes to connect to my network connection, it was pretty much instant as my desktop appeared.

    how many patitions you got and do you have pagefile partion

    Hi Only 2 partitions and what do you mean pagefile partition?

    If you want to multi boot anything as long as one of them is XP you can use grub4dos. This replaces NTLDR with the Grub one and will allow any number of partitions to boot without changing the MBR.

    you have to fix your win 7 boot loader and then add the new windows installation in win 7 loader!
    firstly try that:
    Recovering the Vista Bootloader from the DVD - NeoSmart Technologies Wiki
    and then add windows xp as it is written here:
