So the reason for buying is ive always been interested in the software side of ECU’s. I had actually purchased a USB/BDM a few years ago for saab T7 ecu’s but i never actually got around to using it.
Fast forward and my father now has a 2009 1.9 TID with the bosch EDC16 ECU.
Recently noticed the EGR was badly choked up and the swirl flap bar has popped off as well.
So ive bought a blanking kit for the EGR and a welded manifold.
Since the EGR needs turned off i thought this would be a good time to have a go at it my self. I didnt want to spend a fortune on hardware to do it hence why i bought a copy BDM100 from ebay.
So far i have it all rigged up to a spare ecu. Pins making contact and everything, to me, seems correct.
Now the software that comes with it ill take a stab in the dark and say its not genuine software so this may be where half my problem is.
Dimsport - connects to the ecu, reads the full file and saves as .dim however i cannot access the advanced section to only read the internal flash, external flash or the EEPROM as the tab is greyed out.
The other program is CMD that wont connect at all and gives an error of “ECU communication error +12vcc power error or communication error” which i find strange considering dimsport will connect and read the full ECU.
Can anyone point me in the right direction here? Ive done a few google searches, looked in this forum and tried youtube but im still stuck.
Obviously id like to walk before i can run but what program is used to then edit the files once i can correctly read the ecu?
At the moment ive put it aside and purchased MPPS as ive been speaking to a guy that recommends it and said he has used it on several saab ecus to do the exact task im trying to do however i would still like to get my current set up working correctly too.
Thanks in advance
