Default Q 7 3.0 tdi / engine code BUG possible ECU fail

    Hello DK members,
I have a situation with an Audi Q 7 model 2006 3.0 tdi BUG engine code- BUG
-engine car shut down while driving – switch of ignition and started again –engine started run for 2 miutes and stops again and never starts.
-afted ECU scan found some fault codes (see attached below)
    Actions taked
-measured all 6 fuel inectors wires – ok
-checked fuel pressure on rail while crancking the engine – no fuel
-checked the regulator from rail with Osciloscop – square signal ok
-checked the CR fuel pump regulator with Osciloscope-square signal ok
    - checked when ignition is put to on position if fuel pump from fuel tank runs - no fuel pump noise
    - if i close the fuel pump relay manualy fuel tank pump runs feed fuel to fuel filter
    Questions:

    1. if I am not wrong when ignition is on engine ECU command the fuel tank fuel pump relay, in this condition Engine ECU is bad ?
    2. it is possibile that the steering colum start autorisation module to be bad (relay or switch inside)?

    Note:

    • when ignition is on all instrument cluster light are ok
    • when key is turn to crank the engine engine is cranking but no start and no fuel

    3. what is th meaning of : 005648 - Internal Control Module
    P1610 - 006 - Memory Check Sum Error - MIL ON
    4. next step is to open the ECU to see if is any damage inside ?

1.Open the ECU - no damage inside.
    - charge the battery, ecu installed back - clear all codes - engine crancks well but no engine start and no new fault codes were stored.
-replaced CR pump and R/H fuel rail ( with the fuel pressure regulator ) feeded the pump with fuel gravitationally - fuel pressure 7 bar initially then 120 and 300 bar in fuel rail while engine crancks /when stop crancking the fuel pressure drops to 0 bar (all fuel goes out from the rail return line )

    2. - Need wiring diagrams for the fuel system (fuel tank pump - ecu - relay) AUDI Q7 3.0L V6 TDI ENGINE CODE: BUG .
    - Need procedure for removal/installation of the engine
    - Need timing procedure for this engine ( not from autodata om if possible).

Thumbs down Audi Q7 Water damage on the ECU board

Initially opened the ECU on the back side - all ok.

    - after dk member: eprst recomandation - opened the ECU on the top (plastic pug side) and found Water damage - see attached photos.
    Conclusion:
    1. ECU is damaged.
    2. With the ECU damaged was possible to connect with the scan tool clear codes perform all actuation test
    3. Symptoms of the defect:
    - With ignition on no power to the fuel tank pump relay
    - when crancking the engine no signal to the fuel injectors

I will return with the next steps.

    Hello again,

    1. Measurments performed on the ECU board - continuity from two points as previous post is ok.
    2. Next step and probably the best step is to do a cloning job.
    - found another ECU from a scrap car (see attached photos)
    - the question is the P/N are interchangeable ?
    3. Best tool to do this cloning joob is the KTAG?
    - to copy the immo data from the eeprom and the flash via BDM from one to other, how about the component protection-the engine will start, will change gears and will run?

Default Q 7 3.0 TDI ( engine code: BUG ) - Problem solved after ECU replacement.

    Problem solved after ECU replacement

    - full Ktag read from damaged ECU and full ktag write to the donor ECU - all went well - used the Optican for Bosch EDC 16 BDM adapter No.101
    - engine start ok, car runs fine, changing gears ( see attached photo)

    Hello my friend,

    - I bought the ECU with 340 Euro. ( the seller offer 30 days return if not ok )
    - On the market price is between 300 and 400 euros. If i were to buy it from Bucharest the price would ben 400 euros plus delivery for sure.
    - In my opinion i made o good job overall - excluding the long time when the car was in unserviceable condition.

    Thanks again for help !!!

Good day. Iam also having trouble with my 2007 audi q7 BUG engine. The engine will suddenly stop and cut off. Then will start again after a few mins.
I have done scanning, and it showed P1040 005, itermittent circuit malfunction.
All wiring harness were tested for continuity as well as injectors. All seems fine.
Have anyone had this problem? I need help, thank you.

hi. a had same problem with my father´s Q7. water damaged ECU. i tried to clean it as much as possible, replace capacitors witch were bad and it hepled, but only for about month. oxidation destroyed layers on PCB so i was forcet to swap ECU. but guys! DO NOT FORGET TO CLEAN DRAIN UNDER THE ECU!!! this drain often gets clogged and water can literally drown the ECU (my case )
