I know there are several topics on this car and I'm terribly late to the party since these cars start to disappear from the road but it's the first time I got one without pincode and stumbled to get things done.

IM608 cannot read anything from it
Abrites sees it's a Immo Box , tries to read but fails
Reading ECU dump with Abrites is a no go, ECU not waking up
Don't think there is a pin to be found in the Instrument Cluster but also no luck in reading that one (dump that is, standard reading diagnostic ok)
Loads of other cheap toys (the back up suit) don't get anything out of it either. Dealer don't do pin codes anymore (only programming with ODIS online, that would be a last resort, but my account is not active for quite a while, takes forever).

Thought better to clone chip, but the ID44 on this won't co-operate - only thing to do it is my cheap ass ZedBull clone, but that one asks for a precode transponder - if I produce one (tried a few chips) from blank 7935 it still gives same message. Abrites reads it but officially the TagProgrammer cannot do a 44 (it thinks it's a 33 and asks for T5 chip, don't really trust on that working out to be a working chip after making it? didn't have one with me on the job so could not try).

you can read immobox with 24c04 inside and get pin or make chip

Which tool is best for this, since I tried about everything in my toolbox (Abrites, VVDI2, IM608, a bunch of Chinese crap, etc.)

Read with any programer,make chip with vvdi2

All VW cars with Immo Box , if you do not have working key , need to read with Programmer direct at chip .

So this is eeprom only job then? I have a working key, still immo gives a 'bad response' in abrites if trying to connect to it using OBD and do dump... and need to have key on for 10 min. for retry after failing . Will see or I get it done in a descent time doing eeprom job, this customer is one who wants to wait for job to be done and take car with her again. Not best situation. I can have it programmed by a colleague using ODIS, but that will be expensive and I hate to let jobs go

Still have the chip read from ZedBull (saved using EFFI), will try to write it to another chip, but I don't feel like that will work. Normally doing mostly bit more recent VAG, no issues like this so far on those

If you have working key, you can try read immobox by Vag Tacho.

But eeprom is 100% working solution, easy job.

Did last week Polo 6NZ1, read immobox 24C04 load in tagkey tool and make transponder. 100% work
