    Default VW golf 5 powertrain data bus problem

    Hello everyone. I have a problem with vw golf, the car did not start. I get fault code:
    Powertrain Data Bus
    P1650 Missing Message from Instrument Cluster;
    Powertrain Data Bus
    P1699 Missing Message from Steering Wheel;
    Powertrain Data Bus
    P1635 Missing Message from A/C;
    Powertrain Data Bus
    P1637 Missing Message from Electric Load Controller;
    Powertrain Data Bus
    P1865 Missing Message from Electric Load Controller;
    P1570 Engine start blocked by immobilizer.

    What are the possible solutions?

    Measure resistance can h can low, should 60 ohm.

    Disconnect all parts, abs, radio, ecu.

    Then check part replugged one by one.

    Gateway, is the first to check,

    Aftermarket radios, carkits, trailermodules, bad abs module,

    Fault codes are from engine ecu?
    Post a complete scan with errors from all ecus.

    Yes, bad abs module or problem with gateway module.
    Power steering is also an option to disconnect

    Yes, fault codes are from engine ecu. Does not allow connection to other ecu: instrument cluster, steering wheel, abs..

    I would bet that this is water and corrored wires problem. Insane german engineering to put ecu under windscreen water flow. Mk5 golf still uses k-line for diagnostics and one bad module prevents all communication.

    Never had problems of water ingress on ecu connector on german cars that have ecu under windscreen. A lot of problems appears in the junction box( fuse and relay) under windscreen on driver side.

    No problem with the ecu. Ecu is in powertrain bus network. Since there is communication between diagnostic and ecu, there is no problem with powertrain bus network and diagnostic bus network. Ecu sais that ithas no communication with instrument cluster, ac, steering wheel and bcm. Steering wheel, bcm and ac are in conviniance bus network and instrument cluster is in instrument bus network. Two networks failiure is a bit difficult and neither is in engine bay. Radio wiring harness has infotainment bus network so nothing to do with that. Both problematic networks are connected with gateway module which connects all bus networks and acts as a server transfering signals from onebus to the others. I'd start with the gateway module. It's located between the steering column and the airconditioning box (left hand drive vehicles) and has a red 20pin plug. A possible cause would be a faulty gateway, a inretventing module like fiscon or a high power transmition module like gps tracker if it's positioned very close to the gateway module.

    Golf5 has no fuse/relay box under windscreen. That was until Golf4. Golf5 has that next to the battery.

    Ecu located under windscreen are pretty well sealed, unless someone opened it and didn't close it properly. If there was a corrosion in powertrain bus network of the ecu, yes it would connect via k-line but it would have an additional fault code like "no communication with gateway" or/and "powertrain databus faulty". And even so, the instrument cluster would be accesible for diagnosis.
