Exclamation Smart Car 450 cdi, disaster Frankenstein SAM, ECU, Cluster ruined needs Fix

    Hello everyone,

    1. this forum is amazing; thank you to the moderators and everyone contributing.
    2. Figani is awesome and everyone else who posts; I've learned a lot already and hope to help others.
    3. story:
2006 Smart Car ForTwo cdi 450 (in snow country)
    Took car in for service.
Incompetent mechanic destroyed SAM unit and thrown in garbage.
Mechanic then replaced SAM, ECU, and Cluster with parts from a Cabriolet (without telling me, dumped car in my driveway, and ran away; very angry with them).

    Car runs but:
    1. VIN wrong
    2. Mileage wrong
    3. Some accessories don't work (e.g. defrost, key fob trunk release, sunroof; bad for winter weather)
    4. Can't run Xentry quickscan to find faults (ABS currently acting up)

Want my car running properly but can't afford to have it break.

Currently have access to Xentry/DAS developer 2017 and iScan as multiplexer with car on voltage regulator/stabilizer.
    Couldn't get into the SAM
    Fault (1.3)-3.515.2005
    Error during initializing
No link could be established between the diagnosis gateway and the control unit.
    Possible causes:
The voltage supply of the control module is not o.k.
the control module is not part of the standard configuration and, for this reason, could not be fitted.

Today, installing Xentry/DAS Developer Passthru 2018 so I can use it with an Autel J2534 unit to see if it can communicate better.

Prefer not to have to remove/solder/desolder or ask someone else to reprogram EEPROMs.

If needed, can find/access most software and can use with guidance.

Could someone please walk me through step-by-step if/how I can
    1. get the correct VINs, mileage, and programming on each of the components using Xentry/DAS Developer
    or
    2. at least get each of the components working properly using Xentry/DAS Developer

    Thanks again to everyone,

    E
