    Default Telnet Problems

    Using telnet to flash an image,
    eraseall gets to 100% the I get ILLEGAL INSTRUCTION
    and it goes back to the promt
    what could be causing this

    Wrong message I suspect. You have to type these instructions to the best of my knowledge with correct spaces. Just cut and paste the instruction though if you are trying to flash/backup an image you shouldnt need to type the message in.

    Probably the filename of the actual image doesn't match the filename in your command.

    If the command fails at this point, make the changes, i.e. to the filename and reissue the command. DO NOT power the box off because it's already erased the flash and it won't boot. If you do, you'll need to dreamup.

    I knew that but had no option had to use dreamup to restore backup,
    I dont get it image was named correctly and I cut and pasted the commands
    like always,
    I know illegal instruction sounds like I typed a bad command but like I said
    I cut and pasted the commands, Its put me off telnetting for the mo,
    I'll just just use dreamup and network cable

    If you're going to use Dreamup anyway, you might as well try the telnet method. If it works, you've flashed it in 2 mins, if it doesn't, well you were going to use Dreamup anyway.

    Thats about all it takes with dreamup if you you use network,

    anyway just FTP'd backup to Dreambox and used the menu to flash it
    just about fast as telneting really
