Default 2013 Mini Countryman Cooper S no start after attempted key program

    Good Day All,
I am an Auto Tech in in Providenciales which is part of Turks & Caicos Islands in the Caribbean, I have Been With Jaguar Land Rover +/- 24 years, new to other brands and out of dealership programming.

I have a 2013 Mini Countryman Cooper S that I attempted to program a spare key (from eBay) with a Brand New Autel IM 608pro and did the unthinkable of not saving the files (did not know where or how to save the files) when prompted to, pressed continue then got an message on the screen Failed to upgrade ECU!

I am hoping someone here can help, as for the others, wish me luck!

    Thank you in advance

    Richalo

    Best to remove the cas.
    And try restore with programmer.
    Flash, you can request here.
Eeprom, you can post here, if it needs fixing

If you have a dealer close by.
Maybe its best to let them, connect up with factory system.
And upgrade the car online, by OBD.
It will save you, and customer a lot of time.

Or else its quite a big job of disassemble, interior.
    If this model is 2007-2013.
To get access to the module to read.

And then hope someone have the right flash version, available.
The label is one thing. But if its updated. You might need a different version.
Which you will find out, after reading out the info on the bench.

I hope you have the known good working key, still available.
And its not all keys lost.
If all gone, then its more difficult to get a working solution on this one.

But when its all out. And module is on the bench.
And you got a confirmed working car again, after rewriting. With working solution.
    Tested, starts the car.

You are in the right position, to make a spare.
    Before assemble everything again.

But the profit, of making the key.
    Is probably gone.

Good Day and thank you for the info, We are on Providenciales, Turks & Caicos thus no dealer available. We do however have a person with BMW ISTA on his laptop, and usually he does programming of modules for us, he tried but failed, not sure if he could not get the correct flash? I have the Good Working Key, which is now not turning on the vehicle, I do not have a problem removing the CAS, is there a way to determine what version flash I should update the CAS with with the Autel IM608pro? or do I need to remove to read label?

    Thanks In Advance

If not any online repair solutions, would work.
You start to disassemble the car.

But if you have an active subscription. Which seems to be the case. That would be about 1000-1200USD each year.
There is a small chance. That the support team, of the tool you bought.
Maybe can do some online data transfer, from their support system. And upload a replacement of the damaged file.
    But that is not guaranteed.

If not able to do so.
    Read eeprom and Flash.
    Upload here and wait.
    It might take several days.

    And dont write back eeprom.
    Under any circumstances.
    On this late model.

Just keep the file generated, and dont use it.

The flash is what you need to work on.
And probably replace, with a new rewrite.

What chip programmers do you have? Hextag, vvdiprog, xprog or something like that?
If you have none, you need to decide if you want to invest some money and a lot of time, or just send this CAS to someone who can fix it.

Before you write anything, make sure you make a backup. The autel should tell you where to solder the wires on the circuit board.
Go to programmer, chip/eeprom and find the corresponding mask.
