Default Airbag lamp on after Ducato 2011 key programing.

    Hello!

Programmed two spare keys to a Fiat Ducato 2011 (ID46-system) with AVDI and all worked fine a usual. But afterwards the airbag lamp would not stop lighting. Get the fault code: B1001: Control unit faulty [Present, Warning lamp ON], that could not be deleted.

I have done this Ducatos many times with AVDI and never had any problems. I have no knowledge about airbag modules. Does anyone have any good idea or maybe could recommend me some that know more about these modules?

AVDI support was no help. According to them this could not happened when programming BCM. True or not, the airbag lamp was not on before and now it is.

    Thank you.

    Thank you.
Tried to lift the negative cable of the battery and then delete dtcs, with no luck.
    Battery was fine.

I think you have to dismantle airbag module and post dump here..

ive done hundreds of these over the years with avdi and never had this issue , its unlikely avdi has caused this though not impossible . try disconnect bcm and reconnect , try hard reset also . check fuses for airbag too .

Keys are stored in BCM !
AirBag module connected by CAN to BCM & AVDI
now AirBag module is dead , it's very improbable to kill module by OBD2 , but you'r the last man on van !
This situation can't be explain ...

You sure that airbag lamp wasn't present before? It's very unlikely that it was cause after AVDI key programming.

    Thank you everyone.
I did start the car before I connected AVDI as usual to see that all was fine, and it was as far I remember.

No, I do not think that the airbag ECU could go wrong when programming the BCM. It could just be an accidental coincidence in time, but as you say TERMINATOR1000, I was the last man on the car.

I did look for bad fuses rapidlocksmiths, but no luck.

No solarsu, I did not save anything. I trust Avdi 100 % on Fiat and have so far have no reason to do this.

I think I have to address the client to the dealership or send the airbag ECU to an airbag restore company, but I do not think he let me work on the car again.

Sometimes it go wrong and you have to put the cost on the "learning account" and pay to not lose your reputation, but this time I do not know what I have learned.

sometimes **** happens, im sure your customer would look more towards you if you try to sort the fault maybe pull out the airbag module and send to a specialist if you cant take a reading from it. you may even find someone near to you who could sort it out . if you cant physically take the dump then look for a mileage corrector should be straightforward for them and most look at airbag resetting as well.

If the customer doesn't let you do on the car or you don't work on airbag unit so you can't dismantle and read it, so the dealership is the best way.
But if you can do it, give it a try, post your dump here and i'm sure someone will help you. Personally i've succesfully removed a B1001 from an airbag so in case i would help you. Anyway, good luck!

coincidental faults do occur for all of us , it wasnt like that before you did the new key , just unlucky as very unlikely abrites has caused this .

i suspect you have done battery reset and then tried to connect to airbag unit and delete faults ?

i do remember a while back reading of a few people who had this same issue on number of fiat 500 models , airbag light on after key programming and unable to delete the fault code with avdi or most programmers , some claimed success deleting this fault with FI-com , some with examiner but most swore by Gendan Multiecuscan tool for clearing the airbag faults , i have one that i got as cheap just in case i had this issue on fiat 500 at time , forgot i had it as still unused in its box as never had the issue , but may be a fix for your issue if it is not a coincidental unit problem.
