Golf 4 axr ecu replace

Hi,
Can I replace just ecu from a golf 4 axr engine code ? Some times does not start and has one dtcs that cannot be erased.
What I need to know and what interfaces to buy? I have just vcds

I dont't think that ecu is faulty, did you remap the car recently? if not you can try another ecu (with immo off and stock AXR file) or if you remaped the car recently flash the stock map.
