    Exclamation 1C0 909 605 F - Can't figure it out...

    Hello there!

So I have a friend that has a VW Golf MK4. He recently bought the car with the airbag light on... I did a scan to see whats going on and this is the result:
    Address 15: Airbags Labels: 6Q0-909-605-VW5.lbl
    Part No: 1C0 909 605 F
    Component: 02 AIRBAG VW61 0101 0001

    Coding: 12338
    Shop #: WSC 01271
    VCID: 275D4E9BC5ED1DB3A2-513C

    3 Faults Found:
    00532 - Supply Voltage B+
    07-10 - Signal too Low - Intermittent
65535 - Internal Control Module Memory Error
    00-10 - - - Intermittent
01217 - Side Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N199)
    32-10 - Resistance Too High - Intermittent

Fair enough... We bought a new control module and installed it into the car (same part number - 1C0 909 605 F).
After installing the new module into the car, the airbag light was still on...
I did a full scan again and got these 2 errors :

01221 - Crash Sensor Side Airbag; Driver Side (G179): No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation
01222 - Crash Sensor Side Airbag; Passenger Side (G180): No or Incorrect Basic Setting / Adaptation

Does anybody have solution for this? I believe the crash sensor ids can be changed manually with carprog, but i dont know where to do the changes...
Or does anyone have dump file for this part number with the correct ids ? (0101)

    Thank you so much!

    Hi

I think you will get the faults coming back to haunt you again. Intermittent for me would be loose connections.

00532 - Supply Voltage B+ doesn't matter. Every old vw have it.
01217 - Side Airbag Igniter; Driver Side (N199) Probably is bad yellow connector under drivers seat.

    Wink I FIXED IT

    Hello everyone!

If any of you will ever get these errors, know that they can be caused by a "voltage spike". Even changing the battery could result into this issue.
This happens because the bin file inside the mcu gets corrupted.
Uploading clean file will 100% fix the problems.

I swapped the module on this car thinking the "hardware" inside the airbag ecu is faulty, but i was wrong. I bought a new module (same part number as original), installed into the car and got the side crash sensor erros (01221 and 01222).
After some digging, I found out that his happens because the side crash sensors are paired with the airbag ecu. There is a guy that managed to change the ID manually inside the side crash sensor.
    This is the link:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q_IrGUXj1VE&ab_channel=LMAutoRepairs

I was lucky enough to find a clean and working bin file from the same ecu (1C0 909 605 F) with the crash sensor id's 0101 and the index 0001 as shown in the first scan on the airbag module :
    Component: 02 AIRBAG VW61 0101 0001
I uploaded the file again using carprog and the faults FINALLY cleared for good. No issue whatsoever.

Then, I uploaded the same file on the original airbag ecu... and guess what? No faults. Both were working perfectly.
After that, just for the sake of research, I used tazz's file with no luck. The airbag ecu doesnt respond anymore through k line on carprog (neither on vcds). I think the mcu got damaged because the file was completely different from the one i extracted initially.
Thank you to everyone who tried to help.
If anyone needs this file, I attached it to this reply. No password added.
Please say thanks if I managed to help you!

    Regards,
    Alex

Why would a wrong file damage the MCU? Was it wrongly sized the file?
