    Default UART COMMUNICATION pin finding

    Hi

There are so many people like myself looking for pinout for airbag ecu.

Would it interest anyone that want to know how to find the UART pinout?

Let me know if anyone is interested I'll write it down.

    Hi
Ok not an expert but I would definitely like to share what I learnt.

    1. Magnifying glass or microscope would be a real plus to have around.

    2. If you read around you will find that UART is generally referred to as one of that requires Rx and Tx to function
However this is not really true for Airbag modules you will need to power the module too plus a few other things.

    3. Normal connections required

    Rx
    Tx
    Vcc
    Ground
    Md0
    Md1
    Reset

    4. Just look around for the pins from the net (easiest)
if not available look for the pins mentioned above from the MCU datasheet

    5. Ground is probably the easiest to find
Vcc is the positive generally 5 Volts

    Rx Tx Reset from datasheet

MDo Disconnect it from +5 volt supply (that's why you see the zero ohm resistor removed)

MD1 Connect it to +5 Volt supply (that's where you see bridging required)

MDo and MD1 also obtained from the datasheet

    7. Of course sometimes there are pins where you can't follow from the MCU legs directly (then either desolder the MCU or use a multi meter to find the trace on the other side of the board.

    8. Return the zero ohm resistor back in place Restore initial state of MDo and MD 1

    9. Repair with solder mask the parts that was scratched on board

    Hope it was useful ollync.

Cutting off track leading to reset leg sometimes easier than lifting reset leg.

Absence of MD1 on progammers doesn't mean it's not going to work.
