Yes it is vag-com, but what version, I dont know, you have to test it in vag-com to see what firmvare is inside.

I would not bother, the build quality is so poor it will probably be very unreliable.

Try it with 607 version first, so it wont block your interface, The way its made hope it wont block your car! Probably best if you dont conncet it to car ,only connect 12V on pin +16 and -5 for testing.
