You can always send FEM + keys to somebody but cmon, that's not worth the hassle, you have X6M, surely you have 100-150usd more to pay dealership, because that's how approx. price difference should be and you do not disassemble anything from car.

Sorry to hear that, but in my country a new key with programming is 300Eur. I doubt you will find anyone reliable doing it any cheaper anywhere since, like p1et already said, the procedure carries a certain amount of risk. Especially since it is an expensive car.

If you find a reliable locksmith or car elecrician you can ask for a discout on the car needing 2 keys since the unlocking of the FEM is 80% of the work and has to be done regardless if there is one or several keys needing to be programmed. My advice is to be understanding and polite since most competent workshops have already enough business and try avoid potentialy troublesome customers.

Also keep in mind what p1et said about the security level of the car being modified if it is programmed using any aftermarket solution. What that means is that the car will be easier to start all key lost situations.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I did find one locksmith that was willing to do it but he mentioned having to remove a module and doing something to it on the bench.
Said it was risky and that he would do more research and get back to me, keep the fingers crossed.

You are probably right, I think I have no choice but to go to the dealer.

What do you mean you "can not write to it" ?

Is the transponder still locked for writing or can you not program the key to the car with an external programmer ? If it is the former, then KD did not unlock it properly, but if it is the later then you can try to program it via the coil on the side of the steering wheel. If that fails as well then it was not properly unlocked. I had bad experiences with the KDX2 unlocking function.

I am asking just to cross all Ts but did you unlock the FEM of the vehicle before attempting to program a key ? What programmer are you using ?

look at the guys rating - every day somebody comes on forum expecting to rub 2 sticks together

FEM security is not compromised if using autohex as it doesnt Pre-process the FEM like all other tools
all other tools modify SW version, Easy enough to put back to original anyway if worried about FEM security, But yes agree with everyone here, If you have a X6M surely you would have the money to go dealership with no risk involved

if it goes wrong its £600 + ID + V5 (Logbbok) and 3-5 days wait for it to come from germany...... at which point you would have wished you paid the dealer

Ok no tool is perfect and 1st to admit that (and annoy others saying it!!) but i have to have faith in autohex.

    Anyway my main point
    - people don't have money as dealer told me years ago - all credit. Those folk driving a new car are paying £500+ month so no spare cash. always broke
