Well at least it doesn't explode when you open it . I have a spare ecu for the tvr down the back of the sofa (as you do) so I'll pop the top off and take a look at what the chip numbers are. The tvr uses the same stuff as would be fitted to the old rangerover classic v8's etc...there's nothing exotic about them really. The engine is just the rover v8 with some tuning work done to certain models (the HC's) and the ecu only has a few maps and the one in use is selected by an external "tune resistor" that is simply taped between ends of 2 wires in the wiring loom near the ecu . I would think it is a fairly easy job to get a read of the eeprom, manually scan the file for the maps, edit and upload back to the ecu. I don't really need to worry about that though as I built my own ecu based on the Speeduino project...I've just never got around to wiring it in and setting up the fuel and ignition maps . Thanks for all the info in your posts above and your pm...I'll check out the link you sent by pm and see what's what. I know the kess + ktag package I nearly bought the other day from...um obdiitool.co.uk ( I think) both had the red pcb's...I'll buy from where you suggested though since you have had no problems with there gear. The pic of the ktag software looks quite straight forward...a lot like diagnostics software except I'll be creating problems instead of diagnosing them Also, sorry for taking a while to reply, I've been in a running battle with british gas who seem to think they can just help themselves to money in my bank account as and when they feel like it . I've moved the argument with them over to facebook so it's nice and public )
