Default 2008 GMC Acadia (B111 keyway) - door lock does not match ignition lock

    Happy New Year to all!

    Had big headache today.
Car - 2008 GMC Acadia, all keys lost.
Picked door lock with B111 lishi. Neither VVDI or Instacode could find right key code (I tried ALL similar combinations and had lock picked few times to verify). I cut key anyway, leaving cuts 1 and 2 on depth 1.
Key works great in the door but not in ignition. Then tried to cut cuts 1 and 2 to depth 2, then to depth 3 - no luck at all.

Then I decided to try picking ignition with B111 lishi. To my surprise, I was able to turn ignition on. Reading the lishi gave me numbers 44213442 for cuts 3...10 (which was TOTALLY different from door readings so door lock I assume was replaced). Then I put numbers xx44213442 in VVDI, it gave me just one possible code O6605 and cuts 2244213442, but given key code starts with letter "O" while according to Instacode key code for this car should start with letter "G". When I punched numbers 44213442 in Instacode I've got no code at all no matter how I put these numbers.

So I cut key with cuts 2244213442 to see what happens.
I was able to turn ignition on, but it's EXTREMELY hard to turn (need to wiggle a lot and slightly move key back and forth), so cuts are obviously incorrect.

Question. What was done wrong? Is it possible to correctly pick ignition on this car with B111 lishi which only has readings 3-10?

I’ve have notice that reading after picking to the Acc. Give you a different reading if it was in “ON Position”. Why didn’t you pull the ignition to read the code on it, or rekey to match the door?

I usually don't pull locks and I don't rekey locks at all. I was very tired and it was already dark, but you are right, I should pull lock to read the code. Thanks for reply, ray-ray.

I took readings in "on" position, not in ACC. I didn't take readings in ACC position. Was this my mistake?

It's easy and the new gm's you do not even have to pick. Most gm locks have codes on them or you take it apart to get your cuts like Ray said. On older gm you have to put pressure on the sidebar to pick. Rekeying pays more too..

Without a doubt... B111 is the one I pick to locked position to decode more than any other . Tool has a tendency to slide out of the lock, generally when picking to the unlocked direction.
