    Ok finally got a chance to desolder the lcd successfully.Gonna try and read out the 93c56 chip on the board.Can someone tell me if there is any differences between 93c56 and a L56R chip???I have one speedo with a 93c56 and one with L56R.also I still have some solder left over inside the holes on the pcb which are very small.Anyway to removed the soldering from inside the joints??

    93c56 and L56R is the same.

    To remove the solder you can use a suction pump or sometimes i heat it up and blow through the holes.

    thanks for your inputs.I will try and post results.As mentioned earlier alot of you suggested to desolder the chip in order to get a valid and good dump.If I try to read with clip and the read fails will I still be able to desolder the chip and read it in the programmer or will I need a good dump??

    If you only read is not a problem, but if you than try to write...
    Before you read, short the quarz!

    I dont see a quarts anywhere on the board.Can anyone point it out where it is??or does my board even have one??

    Anyone know which pins need power and ground in order for me to test lcd and make sure i have the correct mileage displayed with no errors???

    Yeah Small steps in progress.LOL.This has been on the backburner for a while.Between my Audi S4 and other projects,Too many to count and not enough time.

    Ok so again finally a little more progress.I still have the lcd desoldered.I tried putting +12v to the pins you pointed out but wasnt able to get the led on pcb to light up only the low fuel light led lit up.Im assuming I need the lcd installed to complete the circuit for all the leds on the pcb??

    I think you just answered your own post there, of course the pins on the LCD need to be soldered back in to complete the circuit
