No mate, that's wrong, see this: https://youtu.be/6oBX307dRlI
A6, A7, A8 are also encrypted and they also need Sync File from third part service in case of AKL to make a Dealer Key (A4, A5, Q5 don't need this), I've done personally an Audi A6 2017 AKL with Xhorse bcm2 kit.
It's not even a question about the model, all the BCM2 manuftactured after 2013 are encrypted, if you order a new BCM2 at the dealer for an old Audi, the new one will arrive encrypted. This also happend some weeks ago with an Audi Q5 2010, the old one was a normal Bcm2 and the new kit ordered at Dealer was a BCM2 encrypted + 2 Keys.
I'm not telling secrets, you can find everything Online 👍🏻

Im not going to argue because I talk only from personal experience. Factory BCM2 from a6/a7/a8 models were never encrypted. The thing they need working key or sync file to make dealer key, doesn't make them encrypted.
Sure if you order BCM nowadays it will be, because they tighten up security level, same as BMW simple CAS3 (you order new or go to dealer for other stuff, they improve CAS security level to 3++)
I know you have general knowledge and you're a cool guy who write here helpful things but in this case you mistaken some things.
Touareg 2012 AKL the BCM is 0421 that for sure is not crypted
Do this model need synhro file from 3rd party in AKL?
Hi, read bcm2 elv ecu & new remote and load the dumps here to get syncro file.

I read the immo and bought the synhro - not worth for me to take out the elv
