Need help with UPA and pinout for 9S12H

Hi as the title says I am getting non stop BKGD error low and VSS always at 0V. As you can see in the attached picture I connected VFF to VSS as that was the only real option for me. I think my VSS is wrong and needs to put soldered somewhere secret possibly.

Vss is ground, how much voltage do you expect on it ?

. Anyway do you have access to the pins of the MCU?

Shouldn't Vdd be 3.3v?
