    How did your installation work? I tried 2.8 on my computer and it fails to install SQL 2005 even if it installs fine if I do it from a Microsoft install file. Then the installation log states I have some not approved operation system (or something like that, don't have the log file reachable) and installation gets aborted. I don't even get the service advisor icon etc.

    Does it have some specific requirements on XP or the XP licence name?

    Info from rutracker.org:

    Hello there is a solution using unlicensed service advisor. I recommend formatting the pc or was install Advisor. Reinstall Service Advisor normally on the pc clean but do not open the software once the installation complete. download and install the utility Cracklock. Follow the procedure used for Cracklock Advisor to create an icon on your desktop. This software will block the internal clock of the program Advisor. it seems that it works perfectly. To reuse the DVD AG ... after their blockade. use the utility power iso and edit the text file "sa.ini" as below:
    Produced = 2010/02/01-05: 37:36
    [Trigger Dates]
    Warning = 2020/06/01
    Termination = 2020/07/01
    create an iso and mount the latter with Deamon tools before you begin service with the Advisor Advisor Cracklock icon when the software is launched later liked to call the validation of the license. the license will be valid indefinitely despite the warning message.

    I think the reason your install crashes is because of the date on the computer when you install it. Version 2.8 has a time out date. Try doing a clean install with the computer ser to Apriil XX 2008.

    Are you using XP SP2 or XP SP3.
    It used to favor XP SP2.

    Read any install log files ,it will state
    why it aborted.

    I thought this was from early 2009, can you confirm that April 2008 is a good date for running the program?

    I realised from one of the install logs that it claims my Windows is an uncertified operating system. I actually have an up-to-date fully valid version of XP but it is a localised, non-English version (different from the language options at setup). Would the program expect an English version of XP?

    The log gives a warning but the next row says the installation is aborting.

    I guess I should try on an English XP (corporate...) if it makes any difference.

    Edited: this must be something else after all, see the error messages from SQL installation and after the install shield finishes.

    I got one step further. I tried to install this SW on an English XP. This time the SQL2005 stuff got installed without errors. Both computers had XP Professional SP3 (the latter one a valid corporate licence).

    Most of the log files have a "Result code = 0" entry but sa28init.log was different:
    [InstallShield Silent]
    Version=v7.00
    File=Log File
    [ResponseResult]
    ResultCode=-3

    The main log file after reboot did not appear to have any obvious errors but still came out with the text: "The Installation of Service ADVISOR did not complete successfully". Attached an extract of this log file.

    Does Service Advisor have any free hard drive space requirements?
