    Question Anyone have Solar Panels

    Morning all,

Due to increased energy prices, and due to go another £800 a year i am seriously considering getting solar panels.

We have a large house but the price of the bills is getting ridicules, Gas alone in the winter was over £400 month, dreading this winter with the increase.

Electricity wise looking at my smart meter readings we have used 7268 KWH for the last year, looking at solar panel websites you don't seem to get much information regarding what system in would need, how much money it save etc.

Just a hell of a lot of money to spend if the energy produced is going to be little. we have a South facing roof so that's a good thing I suppose?

Yes/no. Not what you think it is. If you walk outside and say “where are my sunglasses “ then APPROX 2.6 kw be about 1.7 kw. If you go “fcuk me, too bight” you might get 2.2kw
but then 30 seconds later “ah the sun gone behind the clouds “ be 500 watts

when you “oh the sunshine gone today “ average 150 watts

but as a rule daylight 500watts will be covered

1000000% look into storage but £7k

if your emirating to Emerica or Ozstailia as a night time pizza delivery driver then yes 100% go for electric car charging
by solar. But would need something to “switch on to mains” while you sleep automatically when dull day

    Hi
It all depends on where you are living. Where I live solar energy is very useful.
    1. Heating of water using evacuated tubes (covers investment cost in less than 5 years probably even less)
    2. Heating of water if you have a swimming pool covers its cost in less than 1 year. Yes a heat pump will not match solar heaters for swimming pools
    3. Photovoltaic panels (which are probably the ones you are referring to) Those will depend. Usage during the day or the cost the power is bought back from you. Usage of batteries to store the energy (if you using batteries then pay back period will increase). 8 to 15 years maybe to recover investment cost
Also depends on the type of panels you are buying mono crystalline polycrystaline.

leccy pish this, leccy pish that, ferked off we it all, although they are a good thing, the majority of hooseholds will never be able to afford them unless the cost comes down drastically or theres an epic gov grant, even then the low income families which are the majority in this country will still not be able to afford them, same with pish leccy cars, they are just for middle income families and the rich.

Just a reminder that they are planning to phase out production of internal combustion engine very soon in Europe.

Is there any reason for this? The investment cost is quite large but fuel will be saved a lot.
