    Default X-type jag dash coded to ecu???

    BTW TITLE SHOULD HAVE BEEN S-TYPE NOT X-TYPE \opps


    Got a dash changing job in for jag s-type year 1998. Put the new dash in to check it was working, car wouldnt start. hmmm.......

    X-type , yes definitely. Even the keys are stored in the dash, like VW.
    S-type, i have never done, but if the car is not even cranking, then i would say that is the same.
    Whats inside the dash? Whats wrong with the old one?

    If the dashboard is just physically damaged ... the swap the 912 mcu over ...and it will start....

    The old one just doesnt display anything on the digital display.
    Bought one of ebay was gona change the mileage and pop it in.
    the car was running on the old display fine.

    I had a similar problem before. It was caused by dry joint on one of the blue smd resistors at the back. I advise you to re-solder all the components on the board and try,
