Default Transit 2.0 no start P1212

    Hello,
    Ford Transit Custom 1995cc 96kW engine YMF6 year 3/2017
    diesel
changed 4 injectors because of P126A now it will crank ONLY again and the DTCs are:

P1212:64-64 pressure command injector below threshold

Injectors are original, NEW. Mechanic did not code the injectors.

    It start with spray.
There is not a bleeding fuel line function in diagnostic.

    What do you suggest?

check pressure regulator maybe get it on live data to show fuel spikes etc, forscan with j2534 works fine

Verified today there is no waveform to the injectors.

    DTCs:
P008B:00-27 low pressure fuel supply - too high
P1212:64-64 pressure command injector below threshold

    Disconnected battery, nothing changed.

Fuses all ok: engine compartement fuese ok, cabin 45 degrees fuses ok, cabin regular position fuses ok.

    ----------------------------------
Only voice I have in Launch x431 is
Commanded Fuel Rail Pressure B 0kPa
    during key ON, during cranking.

Note: fuel return line were all disconnected during the test.

    prob causes

    • Empty/Low Oil Reservoir
    • Faulty Injection Pressure Regulator Valve
    • Injection Pressure Regulator Valve harness is open or shorted
    • Injection Pressure Regulator Valve circuit poor electrical connection
    • Faulty Injection Control Pressure (ICP) Sensor
    • Faulty High-Pressure Oil Pump

Ford Diesels use oil pressure to drive the high pressure fuel injection system. The engine oil pump not only pumps oil to lubricate engine components, but also pumps oil into a reservoir to be used by the high pressure oil pump.
The high pressure oil pump pulls oil from the reservoir and raises the pressure to the point where it can pop open the injectors. The high pressure pump also increases the pressure of the diesel fuel so it can inject into the cylinders and vaporize quickly.
The oil pressure generated by the high pressure oil pump is regulated by an electric solenoid that is pulsed by the PCM. As this Injection Pressure Regulator (IPR) solenoid is powered and de-powered, a small shaft moves back and forth, allowing spurts of oil to flow into the high pressure oil lines The IPR can regulate pressures in excess of 3,000psi. The high pressure oil moves from the pump to the cylinder head through braided steel lines.

The PCM fires the diesel fuel injectors by energizing a solenoid coil in the injector. Unlike gas fuel injectors where the solenoid lifts a pintle off a seat to allow pressurized fuel to flow into the cylinder, the solenoid in Ford diesel fuel injectors allows high pressure oil to flow. Think of this like a doctor’s syringe. The pressurized oil pushes on the plunger of the syringe to “inject” the fuel through the injector and into the cylinder. Since the minimum psi required to open the injectors is 400psi, the PCM monitors the actual pressure of the oil going to the injector with an Injection Control Pressure (ICP) sensor. Using data from the ICP sensor, the PCM can adjust the pulse rate to the IPR.

Have seen this very same issue before, had been to another workshop for 8 months with them trying to fix it, they even changed the engine and still the same fault.

Turned out to be a faulty fuel filter housing.

    HOW TO TEST.

you should have a schrader valve on the fuel line as it goes into the HP fuel pump, take off the cap and press in the release while shorting out the low pressure pump relay, the fuel should be gushing out, if it’s not then that’s your issue, injectors will not get triggered until rail pressure is high enough, if the flow from the LP pump is not strong enough then it goes back to the tank via the return before it can fill the HP pump.

2.46V in the rail pressure regulator with key ON or engine cranking.
With connector engaged or disangaged from the rail pressure regulator.

Some pictures of fuel filter housing, fuel line, pressure sensor A, pressure regulator and pressure sensor B.

    ----------------------
Low pressure required 3.48 Bar (348 kPa)
Low pressure measured 6.90 Bar (690 kPa)
    High pressure measured 0 Bar

    ----------------------
I've found all the oil argument comes from a 2011 discussion about a 7.3L diesel.
This is a 2017 2.0L diesel so I think all that does not apply.
