not always throttle, often false intake air
Hello,
I have a Golf 4 1.616v 2003 engine code BCB.
Earlier this year I had an issue with G188 sensor on throttle body, after month of diag, It figure the issue was in the ECU EEPROM, after changing the issue by an used one, i finally succed in the ECU to IMMO adaptations.
Now The G187 and G188 are perfectly working when I move the throttle with and.
But whenstarting, the engine can't ake more than 2500 rpm and I have a fault code with VCDS : P1545 Throttle body malfunction.
I can't perform a throttle body Adaptation as VCDS return me ERROR on the Status box of the TBA channel.
I have exactly the same issue with my old Throttle body and with a brand new one I just baught.
Can you help me please?
I can provide further info on the former ECU issues or if more info on car and default is needed.
thank you
best regards
not always throttle, often false intake air
If I helped, please, use magic buttons reputation+thanks.
So, you propose to look at the MAP? The sensor is new,I changed it at the begining of the trouble, before finding it was ECU
But what I understand, it is that the issue is with engine off, as the TBA has to be perform with engin off but ignition on.
thank you
try the adoption on channel 00 first and then channel 60, if I remember correctly
see well the egr wire

Hi,
EGR ok
Adaptation on 00 done, but still no TBA working
Here is the defalut log I have for weeks and screenshots
thanks
Try disconnecting the battery and wait about 10 minutes and then reconnect and try to make the basic adjustment on channel 60.
Giving error in the throttle body is normal, it is not possible to make the basic adjustment.
Hi,
thank you
I try it, disconnecting the battery for around 30min with + and ground cacle of the car touching to discharge the condensators. Befor that, I cleared the defaults code of the ECU
When reconnecting tohe batterie : I had the default code of the first image "erreur"
I deleted then, as soon as it is done the "erreur2" appears.
Try an adaptation, The status start with ADP Run, then ERROR
And the defaults codes are now like "erreur3" picture, but TBA is still not working.
I start thinking about burning the car ....
Yet it continues to give an error. I can only see one thing you have problems with the throttle body (damaged). When there is an error in the basic adjustment it is because they are not in order.
If you erase the faults and start the car, it will have a stable idle and accelerate linearly, if so, drive the car to see how it behaves. If you have a chance to get a used body or a friend's body and try it out, that would be great.
hi, thanks
I will check for the alternator wires.
I have the same issue with the actual TB that has less than 3000km, and a brand new one.
I don't have any relatives with TB to try
Right now, when i start the engine, the idle is not really stable at 1250, i can drive the car up to 2500, it is smooth and sounds well, but limited at 2500rpm, when realesing the gaz pedal, still erratic idle.
a little update after some work
I will explain you the original issue that leads to the ECU swap.
I was at a stop, the car show several warning lights and enter in safe mode with rpm woobling between 1100 and 1300 rpm with no reaction to throttle pedal.
Default codes were : Intake leaks and absolute pressure sensor default.
I change the pressure sensor and check for leaks, but nothing found.
After reseting defaults, still reving issue and safe mode but new code comes and it was a throttle pedal signal faulty. So i change the pedal
Still the same issues and code comes to G188 sensor value error. This time i checked the wire and the throttle body, and when moving the throttle with my hand, the value was changing only on G187 and not 188.
That's why i swap the ECU.
Today I take the old ECU, put the EEPROM code of the new one and perform an ECU adaptation, that worked, then I try the TBA and now it works.
The engine starts, I could rev at every RPM, I was happy.
I take the car out the box to drive test it, and when it try to leave, the original issues come back, f**k.
To summarize :
No more ECU adaptation issue
TBA works well : G188 and G187 value are ok when moving throttle body by hand.
OLd or new MAP sensor : same issue
RPM in safe mode, no response to pedal, idle variation betwen 1100 and 1300, and error log attached.
I will take the time to remove the air intake body to check any leak or seals issue
But I don't understand why these codes didn't appear after the ECU swap, and with the other codes of last weeks.
