Unhappy Citroen XSARA 1.4i BSI failure...please help..

    Hi !

I have situation where suddenly indicators stops ( speedometer, rpm meter ) working and lights is ON in instrument board, with no car key inserted.

Someone says that this is faulty BSI.

    My questions is:

    1. Is it faulty BSI or there can be somethong else?
    2. If faulty BSI, is there any possible way to repair BSI?
    3. I have heard that there is some chance to "virginize" some other BSI, and put it in my car, and pair it with my car engine ECU.
    4. Some other idea, please?!

New BSI from factory is out of question, beacuse car is 8 year old, and there is no economic reason to pay 500-700 Euro-s for new BSI, while whole car worth 2000 EURO-s.

I can get a second hand BSI for 100 Euro-s, but they say it is impossible to pair it with my car.

    Thanks !

Could you please provide year model, and BSI part number?

    Is it Xsara II ?

In some cases there is a water entrance and BSI get's water inside.

Dismount BSI from your car and open it watch for water vestiges.

The only solution it to take a old one and virgineze it ,yes you can do that ,but you will need someone that knows what to do .After that if you have lexia3 you can programme it

    Hi !

Thanks all for the answers. I have local Citroen garage here, and yes, they have Lexia3 software.

But they don't know how to "virginize" it. They don't even know what is that mean :-)

A bit of luck for myself, i'am working with satellite equipment and receivers everyday, and i'am familiar with programming flash memory and eeprom-s.
But, i don't know nothing about my Xsara II - 2002.year.

Can somebody provide me with enough information and files to "virginize" BSI.

    And question for Xenos:

With word "old one" did you mean BSI from another car, or BSI from my car, which is faulty.

    Thanks !

H8, open bsi and look up for 8 pin chip, maybe 95160, inside are vin, keys and mileage, just remove/desolder and put/solder in second hand bsi.
Just done ,no match keys needed, just check with lexia for possible different codding (different equipement?.And clear faults.
And remember.. never change in Psa group, bsi,ecu or cluster by second hand one directly, without virginize or eprom replace, because if any second hand unit(bsi, ecu, cluster) had more mileage than the installed on car...mileage will be automatically and inmediatly updated to second hand parts vehicle mileage.
    Regards.

Thanks is in post thanks button

    I think it's a Com200 veicule so:

Search for the 8pin Serial EEPROM 95160 or 95040, but i think it's the first one, and switch the one from your BSI to the "new" one, or read the serial from your BSI and program the "new" one with the dump.
