Default setting up drembox with cable modem

thought this info might be of use to noobs like me,or it might be well known and im a balloon.i have a pc at home that has cable broadband with wireless router, but this is quite a distance from my tv and dreambox,so would be major hassle to connect dreambox to router.so after reading excellent guide by devilfish(thanks dude)decided i would connect spare modem to dreambox, after all i have cable acess point behind tv(now not used for obvious reasons)so fired up modem, connected to laptop via ethernet, did ipconfig, got ip info entered this into dreambox.great all going smoothly.but just wouldnt connect to internet.well after some searching and head scratching.realised that modem is being blocked via mac address,no problem phone my cable supplier to register mac addres of second modem, sure they said no problem but you will have to pay for second broadband account.s##t says i stuff that.so basically im saying you cant connect your spare modem to dreambox without paying.and dont clone your spare modem coz it wont wprk with two identical mac addresses either.this may be something that is widely known already but i didnt know.and it may save someone some time and hassle.cheers for all the help folks.

You would be able to do it if the second modem was cloned but using a MAC address outside or your area.
Otherwise, run a cat5 cable around the bottom of the skirting boards, or use the Powerline Adapters which are great and easy to setup and use.

im sure there must be various ways of solving the problem.as it is ive just relocated my router and modem to the room where the tv is as my new pc has wireless so its all up and working now.im sure there are lots of people checking out the sat scene as cable goes tits up.what i have discovered is sat stuff is much more interesting than cable, its a proper hobby and even though i nearly kicked my dreambox up the garden path a few times it was well worth it when i finally got it right.
