    Unhappy pc will not read dvds all the time

    hi the problem is my philips lightscribe rw will play and read some discs from the dvd shop and not read or play others
    the ones it will not play just show blank i even been on my computer and all i get is DVD-RW DRIVE (D and not the name
    can any one help ?

    try updating the drives firmware to recognise newer makes of disc.

    buy a lazer cleaning disc might be crap on the lens

    The only time I've had that type of problem and cleaning the drive didnt work, the drive was bad, but you could post more information like the make and model of the drive.

    open up DVD-RW DRIVE and cleaning up lazer whit alcohol matchstick

    or buy lazer cleaning disc, maybe this will work.

    tray installing another dvd rw it might be the dvd its sellf

    if u have, try looking for cd cleaners, these are cds with brushes underneath.. but its costs probably half of a new dvd reader.. so i suggest that you get a new one instead.. its pretty cheap nowadays.

    m8 if cleaning laser doesn't help, it means either firmware or dvd-drive itself crashed somehow if i were you i would definitely check connections to motherboard...

    Try to swap the DVD with another set and try. If still the same will be the operating system problem. If not, try cleaning the lens. Hope it help.
