Magadan, the VID is 0403 and the PID 6001 (tipical in FTDI Serial Converter).

    Thanks!

    Sorry for the English.
I think I had that problem once but I don't recall how I solved it

    Try FTPROG

    Good luck

    You can do like this:
    1. Plug the interface to the USB
    2. Go to Device Manager and uninstall the driver
    3. Unplug the interface
    4. Replace the RT-USB.inf from VCDS folder with this one
    5. Plug the interface to the USB
    6. Run MProg and then flash the interface with this ept. file
    You know how.
    1. Upload the ept file
    2 Read
    3 Erase
    4 Flash
In the end unplug the inetrface and then plug it in back
Go to the Device Manager and you'll see that it will be recognized as Ross-Tech Hex CAN USB interface.
In the VCDS folder set USB before testing ( nom com port )
    Good luck

You delete a tick in MPROG "Only program Blank Devices"

As I think, it is an original cable with FT232B. Here compare with original on FT232R. Board cabling the similar.
    Sorry, bad English.

    Forget about genuine one.
    It is not a genuine.
magadan in first pics of you the STC was unsoldered. The genuine hasn't this components in it.
    Good luck

It can't be STC. It is a reserve place under MAX232 or analog.

The pics posted by magadan...hmmmm.... I'm not so sure but maybe it is like a genuine but I so somewhere a chinese clone that it's using FTID RQ too
So I can say that it's genuine or not.
    I suppose it's not.
    ( My opinion )
    Good luck

Don?t work.. the same error "error reading device"....

Kenshin, the FTProg don?t work, out as if programmed, but does not.

Yes Magadan, the tick in MPROG "Only program Blank Devices" are deleted.

    I'm thinking of buying a Vag-Com again?

    Thanks.

Well!!! Maybe the 93Cx6 EEPROM or FTDI is damaged!

However it's strange because you can read it.

Try to delete the hardware in Device Manager. When he asks if you wanna remove the driver, click YES.

Then remove VCDS and the drivers from ADD/REMOVE Programs in Control Panel.

    Reboot, just in case.

Connect the cable and let it install the SERIAL CONVERTER driver.

Open MPROG and try it again

    If sucess, remove the cable.

    Install VCDS including the drivers.

    Plug the Cable.

Now it should be recognized as a RT HEX CAN INTERFACE

    Good luck

Can read? 403/6001 is in FTDI, not in eeprom.

Eeprom damaged, or must resolder or..FTDI damaged or....ATMEGA unprogrammed.

To delete - to check up with MProg - to solder into place
