guys let me share with you one strange experience had with a VCDS tool RL based.

I made all changes (as usual), remove the components, reprogram the GAL, reprogram the Atmega and also connections.

but - now is the funny part - when I'm connecting the tool to the USB port I receive the message: USB device not recognized.

Did you had such experience as my?

    2. Another thing I observed - there is no certain infos about lock bits (fuse bits are in many places almost the same):
    in hex:
    Low fuse: CD
    High fuse: DC
    Extended fuse: F9
    Lock fuse: FF

    and from another post:
    LOW: CD
    HIGH: DC
    EXT F9
    LOCK: CC

    and from rsibiza extremeburner manual:
    Low fuse: CD
    High fuse: 9C
    Extended fuse: F9
    Lock fuse: CF

    which set is OK?

    regards
    1. How can set lockbits to CC in that programmer/calculator? I can't.
    2. I use CC for lockbits, that mean you cannot read the atmega, FF is use if you want to read the content.

    See above, at 2.

How obtain CC? See Ponyprog "Setting the fusebits"...
    CD(h)=11001101 (2)...etc

    CC(h)=11001100 (2)

Is exactly like in that screen..

FTDI default description is usb-serial con..., so if anything erase extrenal eeprom for example 93c46 you got default value usb-ser..., that's why you need to reprogram it with Mprog, regarding OPCOM that's probably driver issue or somebody force wrong driver installation

    You right!

I can't set these lockbits too.

I will send message to the author of software about that.

If you have a non banned serial of a HEX-USB+ CAN Interface... you can do it.. but do you know how to?

For that you need to decompile and understand where is and how to change the EEPROM dump!!

If that was this easy, in China, they would bother about hacking the ATMEGA (with acid, lasers, UV lights...) they would just write down the serial in a piece of paper and change EEPROM accordingly!

    Good luck

    Regards

Did it help? Push Thanks below

The soft is freeware version, not full.. if try select Atmega 48 you'll see. But the CC setting i think is not because of "freeeware".
