I never saw that HW but I bet that there is one STS uC (maybe the top right chip on the second picture)
Remove it!
Then reflash ATMEGA and FTDI with latest dumps.
You don't need to use a modded installer.
If you're still getting trouble, read the attached file.
By the way... which are the references of all ICs? There must be a ATMEGA162, GAL16V8, 93CX6, 7805...

That STC it is there but it has no influence in reflashing Atmega.
So you do not need to unsloder it.
Take a look in another kind of VCDS tools from China , newer once.
You do not need to unsolder the STC.

This new one do not reflash FTDI, reflash Atmega.
Let's say that it it's say Unregistred.
What I have to do is that just to unplag the cable from USB and from OBD connector and plug it back
All fine again, Full Registred
So this STC in the new kind of VCDS tools it is for Atmega not for FTDI
Look at the other side of the tools, you'll see that STC for FTDI it isn't there.

By the way... If you have good dumps and electronics knowledge that STS is kind "useless".
Other thing is that if you don't remove that STS chip you can't update ATMEGA... well, you can... but whenever you plug the cable, the STS will reflash it again!

Okay Guys, then what should do?Desolder or not?
Reflash your Atmega without unsolder the STC.
If you have the tool I'm taliking about you don't need to unsolder and I'm pretty sure that you have this kind of tool.
If it dosen't let you flash the Atmega in this case you have to unsolder that STC.
Too many kind of tools and we cannot be such sure what it is really good for a tool or not.

If you don't unsolder STC you will be able to reflash Atmega, but your tool will not work. Maybe if you use original eeprom for Atmega.
I supose that he's got a diffrent kind of tool that you know

So, to conclude:
You have a tool that uses a STC to recover an unregistered ATMEGA, right?
Let's say that the STC has the 11.11.0 dump. Whenever you plug the cable into 12V, STC reflashs ATMEGA with 11.11.0.
Now, within 1 month you get your hands into 11.11.2 dump and you have yet the STC chip on the PCB.
What do you think that will happen?

Ok let me explain to you
Let's say the the tool come with 11.2 dump
If you use with upgraded version it will not be erased anymore.
If you reflash it with other dump let's say with 11.11 dump the tool will work with this version but if you will try to upgrade it the Atmega will be erased
What I wanna tell you it is that you do not need to unsolder that STC to reflash the Atmega, this was the discution.
In the old tool you need to remove STC transistor and a rezistor if you like to reflash Atmega but in this new tool you do not need to this.

Well, Now I understand the reason of the STC chip... but if you reflash the ATMEGA with 11.11 dump the next time you plug the cable into 12V the STC will reflash the ATMEGA again to 11.2, right?
So... I understand that this clone will work with any software version... But in the future Ross Tech will prevent this kind hacking for sure.
Then you have 3 options:
1) Use 11.2 dump with the latest working software
2) Get your hand into a newer dump and use the corresponding software version... For this you must remove STC chip.
3) Buy original
