Black wire is USB GND, so, FTDI is not powered, in this case appear "unknown device"

on china usb wires not allways black is GND.. seen many times that black is VCC(+5v) so best thing is to check before soldering

When my clone will back to me I will try something with dump for Polish VCDS 10.6.5 AKP.

VCDS cables for specified languages works with 2 versions of VCDS: specified and English.

Polish 10.6.5 was from september 2011. Next polish version 11.11.3 was from may 2012. And this serial is blacklisted in newer version. Specific date of being blacklisted of this serial is unknown. If it was blacklisted in may 2012, it should theoretically works with English VCDS which where introduced between this dates.

Between this two dates there was few English versions of VCDS:
11.11.0 - 11 November 2011 (for it there is free dump)
11.11.1 - 9 December 2011
11.11.2 - 26 January 2012
11.11.3 - 1 April 2012

Every dump are for specifics languages
For instance a polish dump will not work with English version
Well there's serials which can work with both languages but I'm affraid that this once will not be cloned

The dump for one Polish version
I know that you can make a loader or you can creat your serial and make this change directlly in the VCDS.exe file no loader need
But I talked as I said about original serials

Polish distributor of VCDS have written on his site, that every original interface bought from him works with actual polish and english version of VCDS.

So if it's not blacklisted, it should work with it.

mattydr67, this dump which you gave me, was posted in past on forum for polish 10.6.5.

In Romania you have to ask if you want to have a serial for both languages and this it cost a suplimentar fee ( if I remember well it is 50 euros more )
About the dump I gave you I don't remember from where I have it.
I just gave it to you as for a frined
I'm not intresting in Polish verions od other languages for VCDS, but just in english and romanian versions

First of all sir if you are kind please share here 2 pics of both side of your tool
Becasue in China was two kinds of tools using VCDS 11.11.3
Or maybe you don't both it from China
I have same tool ( clone one ) and I had VCDS 11.11.2 then I upgraded to VCDS 11.11.3 and now I have VCDS 11.11.4
I'm waiting a VCDS 12.xx.x release to upgrade it again
But my tool it is a HQ clone and the softwear it is not made by Chinese
Ok I use also Romanian versions of VCDS ( VCDS 10.6.4ROJ in the past and now VCDS 11.11.4ROJ )
So when we talking here about VCDS 11.11.3 and its issues we are talking about a particulary Chinese tool
