First of all sir if you are kind please share here 2 pics of both side of your tool
Becasue in China was two kinds of tools using VCDS 11.11.3
Or maybe you don't both it from China
I have same tool ( clone one ) and I had VCDS 11.11.2 then I upgraded to VCDS 11.11.3 and now I have VCDS 11.11.4
I'm waiting a VCDS 12.xx.x release to upgrade it again
But my tool it is a HQ clone and the softwear it is not made by Chinese
Ok I use also Romanian versions of VCDS ( VCDS 10.6.4ROJ in the past and now VCDS 11.11.4ROJ )
So when we talking here about VCDS 11.11.3 and its issues we are talking about a particulary Cinese tool

Your tools it is the last worst Chinese sh..t
No GAL/ATF and FT232RL
The softwear it\s cracked by the Chinese and I never seen a a good cracked VCDS made by them
Maybe you said that it is working well, good for you.
But I will nere try to do any programming, adaptation or coding if I will have this kind of tool

11.11.3 use FW 1.91
Older use FW 1.84

Haven't tried programming or coding yet but adaptations seem fine.

Any ideas on where I can get a better one?

Not in Chiana and and no cheap
BTW if in a clone there missing a components ( an important one ) that a genuine tool it has for a reason, what do you think that this clone will be able to respond to all function as the genuine can do?
Think about this when you buy a clone that it is diffrent a lot then a genuine one.

I'm still fighting with VAG118 clone. USBasp show me that flash and eeprom is correct when I write and read it.

I have tried 11.2 Beta and 11.11.0 dump and there is the same thing. During TEST in VCDS options, it can't read FW version, it's unable to update it by VCDS.
I have unsoldered IC8, T5 and R50.

Now Fusebits are:
Low fuse: CD
High fuse: DC
Extended fuse: F9
Lock fuse: FF

When I first time read it:
Low fuse: CD
High fuse: DC
Extended fuse: FB
Lock fuse: FF

Interface is without 7805 but for test must be on 12V. In this case, tell us the colour of led, VID and PID, etc..

I have unsoldered 7805 to photo.

VID PID was erased when it comes to me, I have programmed it as 0403 FA20 and without programming atmega and unsoldering STC it was working correct, but friend wanted to update it to 11.11.0.

So I unsolder R50, IC8, T5, program atmega with 11.11.0 dump and set fusebits like in post above. Now VCDS can't see FW of atmega and can't update it by VCDS.

Now LED is red after connection for few seconds and then green. Without unsoldered STC, LED was red all time to moment when I plug USB to computer.

Can I change for test 93S56 on 93S46 from other VCDS interface which was without STC? I'm not sure If my USBasp can flash it with new dump.

1. No offence, yours solders are ugly. Try to put a little quantity of "solder flux" and clean with the iron the pads of STC. Can be a short circuit here.
2. Reprogramm ATMEGA with 11.11.0 dump and CD, DC, F9, FF fusebits and again FTDI with correct dump.
Uninstall and reinstall VCDS 11.11.0 and make a test on the car or..with +12V power between pin 16(+) and 4/5(GND) OBD2.
After, put here "printscreen" with Device manager VID/PID, Test screen and About screen.

3. Yes, you can put another 93Cx6 but you don't need to reprogram it directly, you can do that with MProg (when you reprogram FTDI, in fact you reprogram that memory).
Test too if pins 5 of 93Cx6 are to GND and 6 and 8 to +5V and pin 7 on 5V or GND...
But, why want you to exchange? VID PID are not 0403 / FA20 after test?
