GAL must be removed for program in external programmer, but ATMEGA is not necesary, it can be programmed with ISP AVR Programmer. (ISP=In circuit Serial Programming).
PonyProg with "LPT Programmer" is an ISP programmer, too)

I've managed to get another clone that only works up to 11.11.0 and I think this may be the "proper" one. Can anyone let me know what they think of this one please?

Windows device manager reports this one to be a Ross Tech HEX or KEY USB Interface while my other 11.11.3 with no GAL/ATF comes up as a Ross Tech Direct Interface.

    I'm continuing this post: http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ml#post1848286

I have cleaned pads for STC. I have used dump which I was using for other clones, so it's correct.

Still it's not working. I have made some printscreens from VCDS:

    1. Firmware corrupt.
    2. ATMEGA broken
    3. I don't know... 7,.......MHz quartz broken?
You use a programmer on 64 bits? Are you sure that work correctly?

Try to rewrite ATMEGA and run VCDS on a XP32bit PC, only for test..
What are status of RED/GREEN Led?

    1. I have used this firmware for other clone and works perfect
    2. I'm not sure, USBasp is connecting and programming without problems, verification is ok. Maybe ATMEGA162V is a problem?
    3. How can I test it?
I have Windows 7 x64, it's working properly, yesterday I have programmed VAG Tacho and other VCDS. Other clone is working on this Windows without problems.

    I will try.

LED is green, when I was making TEST in VCDS it blinks red few times. When I plug it to +12v, LED is red for about a second.

FIRST time, at FIRST test after reflashing 3 times, after this, only twice.

Try to change ATMEGA with another, from a good VCDS cable.
Quartz you can change, that because i tried to test with an oscilator but in that osc work ok, in VCDS work sometime.

Don't worry about that. This only applies for MLF packages and the one you're talking about is a TQFP

    Good luck

Did it help? Push Thanks below
