Btw to add I also have other vag tools mpps, vagcan, vag tacho etc. and my black cat programmer can pretty much program anything so if I can upgrade it to a newer version that would be awesome. Also notice the pins on that second board I'm almost wondering did they put that there for a special programming ability ? Thank you!!!

Check to see if you find continuity between MCP pins 13-SCK 14-MOSI 15- MISO and to 1>4 pins (red circle on the edited picture. So if you are lucky with first step, that means the fourth pin is RESET.

Again thank you for your help! Ok ok I have tested continuity between those pins and pins 1 and 4 do. Pin 1 tests ok to last pin 9 if pine 1 on mcp is the one with little indent in corner of mcp. And pin 4 tests to pin 18 which would be directly across of indent. But as you has me looking for obviously traces to the pins on that mcp chip. I decided to lift up that regulator or what ever that is under that is allot more pin outs and they go to pins on the mcp and also looks like they goto pins on the atmega if that's what is under that board on the other side. I will post post more up close pics. I tried to show the part numbers on chips and tried to get a pic of the traces to those pin outs I found on board.thanks again!!!!

I'm sorry I took all those with my phone and here they are corrected different shots. I can retake them if need be. That last photo I was trying to show how some of those holes look like the traces go to pins on the at mega.

    Let s recap.
You need to find points to solder that will reach Atmega on 1,2,3 and 4.
So start your search with MCP and look for the pads on the PCB.
    Atmega ------------MCP
    1------------ MOSI----------14
    2--------------MISO--------- 15
    3---------------SCK----------- 13
    4--------------RESET----- ---

If I am helpfull hit thanks button.

Here are the pic showing what has continuity. Also ok I need to look up schematics for the mcp? Or do you have a example of what one already looks like done? And one I do find this do I use my programmer to program? I have a question why was the software able to re write the eeprom but we can't via just a file? and will do I will hit you with a thanks on your profile.

one more ? Which is pin 1 on each mcp and atmega? Where the black dot is?

Black dot is pin nr. 1 for MCP and Atmega if you can spot it.
Give a search on google with " pin out atmega(mcp) " to see exactlly .
Your last edited picture is not helping you at all, you need to identify pins 13, 14, 15 on MCP and then start search for the pads on pcb.

Will do. So once I find 13,14,15 on the pcb I'm good? Also do u know why we have to do this and not just run a file? How did they corrupt it with a update and we can't fix it without soldering to pins ? Just want to verify your pic, I will look for those pins and get back tomorrow. if I don't find them on pcb can I just solder direct to the pins on mcp.

Just checked the continuity and yup those holes above the mcp 3 of them go to 13,14,15 and from what I can see on other side of the holes look like they go to the atmega

Goog job! But you are not Done, not yet.
You need to find one more "hole" with the connection to the 4th pin of the Atmega= Reset pin.
Show me what holes are matching with MCP.

About writing Atmega via usb, it is possiblle, but those(not me) who knows that method, do not think that is a good ideea to make it public.

    Default VAG 11.11

Hi, i have my cable bought from ebay, long time ago. i "destroy" it by connecting to internet so i sent it here in my country to person who "repair it for me". Now my cable works, no internet problem at all, but i have problems with the software itself:
when i read groups there is description like... "temperature" but what temperature? Before that it was "fuel temperature" for example. Now i have only mass flow mass flow... not written specified or actual. Can you tell me how to change this to more accurate readings.
I have got 11.11.5 version as a software. I have made pictures on my PCB. I have got TL866CS Programmer USB and i use it to read and write eproms from old ECUs... if i can reflash firmware, or try with any other software?
Can you suggest me something, please... this is not good at all like that. Thanks.

this is my cable from inside.
