hello makadam,if you can continue to replace FT232RL from working cable,It may work. sometimes, the data of FT232RL is important for clone cable also.

I have reverse engineered old 10.6 cable (because it blinks red when GAL installed with kolimer`s dumps, works fine with gal delete tho) in case someone needs it for some purpose. Will reverse engineer 12.12 cable tomorrow as well.

@Electrik1: Is a very old "solution" for eliminate GAL. About 3-4 years ago. Chineses used idea for bad-cheap cables without GAL.
    Not recomended.
@Zagaaa: Solution is another cable with Atmega162, with good dump and good cracked programm

I had read the whole topic, and i saw many good posts! Thanks!
I still have a problem with my own cable. It's a X044 but i dont know which controller it is And it's protected against writing.
It works like a charm with 12.2 but i want to upgrade it.
I successfully changed the Serial of the cable so Vcds 17 does recognize it but it says it needs a firmware update. (it's 1.92 and needs an upgrade to 1.96) photo_2017-04-03_17-11-10.jpgphoto_2017-04-03_17-11-12.jpg

Can't be updated. China NEC CPU with custom firmware (1.92). Only cables with ATMega162 CPU can be updated.

Ok, I sorted out thing with GAL, connected pins like HW 0x44 and it worked with GAL (no need to gal delete).
GAL/ATF programmed with TL866 programmer, GAL .jed file included in zip.
Zip also contains .pdf of reverse engineered 12.12 schematic + .eps vectorial file if high res is needed.

Works like a charm with Kolimer`s v2 dump (0x44) and his cracked .exe

Hi, I have an VCDS clone 12.12 (atmega162 and FT232RL) with problems and i want to repair it. This doesn't have GAL. I have any questions about the steps that i will follow, please correct me :

    1) Flash the FTDI with MProg using ept.

    2) Connect my AVR Programmer to the Atmega pins (see in the picture) MISO, MOSI, SCK and RESET.
And the "Ground" on the pin 28 of the Atmega.
For the power it's enought to supply only +5V to the pin 18 (VDD) of the MCP2512 ?? Or need i to put +12V on the 7805 regulator??

    3) Flash the eeprom and set the fuse bits CD/DC/F9/CC or FF

Is that correct for my interface?

I'm very grateful with the good job of this forum and I learn a lot of.

thanks for your message. what if i told you I have about 20 of these cables and cannot throw them away. Is it possible to use older version like 17.1 and this cable will work with it?

Without GAL seems to mean too "pins 34,35 Atmega unconected"->46->DA.

    Hello all!
I have read almost all 300 pages on this thread, very useful, thank you all for sharing info.
Almost a week ago I have bought a clone, seller delivered a CD with official 17.1.2, on description said that official software will work. At least that i could read on that CD, it was a bit damaged. After autoscan license gone, Unregistered appeared. No internet, no update, just software from CD. I have contacted seller, no answer until now.
Meanwhile, I have found some software, recovery.exe, and worked but when I am scanning I get some communication errors.
Can I make it to work as it should?
    Pictures attached with inside!

What VID and PID appear in device manager?
    0403 and 6001?
    Is a little strange solution.
