I have my old version 16.8 and it didnt work. I can try repaire it . This is PCB but i dont know how i can connect it to prgramer USBasp ? Anybody can describe me PINout on my PCB ? Or i must solder to pin to ATMEGA ?

It is with STC chip, and from info manual i know that i must cut wire to resistor R50. But after programming again connect ?
But how connect interface to programmer ? Pin on PCB describe is as G T R V ? But how connect MOSI MISO SCK RST GND VCC ?

I have same interface as yours and i want to know how you proceed to update version to 17.8 (now i have 16.8.0)

It shows the 'usb device is not recognized' popup and in device manager i have 'unknown usb device' and in properties of said device has no vid.

Would this be a faulty ftdi FT232RL chip?

Are you sure all the USB wires are okay and not broken?
Any chance you try to access it with MProg?
The interface has not ATF/GAL so if it's the FTDI faulty, I wouldn't spend much time/money/effort on repairing it.
A new quality hardware (HEX-CLONE+CAN as the Dictator calls it) is under $30 with worldwide shipping.

I am going to go look if i have another ftdi chip somewhere but will probably end up buying a new one. Any recommendations on a decent lead?

From what I read it's Atmega 162 with 2 crystals next to each other and programable pins.

Hy guys. I have a vcds 12.12 chinese clone that shows unregistered. I still can do some things with it, but not to much. Can anyone walk me through , how to reflash this tool ?The chip inside is atmega 162 (16AU 0921H) ,FTDI 1608-C CN480661 FT232RL. Thanks in advance.

i've been reading for a couple of hours. i need to know what tools, and files do i need. if i should upgrade to a newer version, stick with this one, or downgrade. thanks for you answer.

First I would hook it up to a usbasp and backup the flash+eeprom and fuses that is on the atmega and the settings in the FTDI, in case you want to go back.

Here on page 2 you can find the pinout of the ATMega. Trace MOSI, MISO, SCK and Reset from the chip to the prog-header J4 and hook up the usbasp. Don't forget ground and if you don't plug it into your car, hook up +5V too.

Take the kolimer package v6.3 and I think the 0x46 firmware should be the right one for your interface. Everything else is explained in the info.pdf
You don't have the best quality interface, but it should work..

Hi everyone, i have just a couple of questions:

1) I've seen on Ro$$ T€ch website that HEX+CAN has been replaced by HEX-V2, is this version better than HEX+CAN? Does exist a good quality clone of it? And could be upgraded like the HEX+CAN?
2) Several people are reporting of troubles with 18.2 /17.8.1, mainly with coding (ex. have to do it a couple of times before having coding accepted, lost connection during auto-scan, etc.) someone could confirm this? (However i assume that flashing kolimer firmware i could go back with 17.1.3 if needed, right?).

I use 17.1.3 where reliability is required (e.g. coding, adaptations of expensive cars) and find it stable.
