Apologies for the newbie question,
Just want to confirm what I have learned so far from extensively reading this thread.
When I run HWType it returns
file version 1.96
hw version 0x46
Identification ROSSTECH
And when I run EEWritelang it returns not in bootloader mode.
My current cable works fine with 18.2 Eng & 18.2.1 GER versions VCDS.
When I run VCDS 18.9 with V6 VCDSLoader it detects cable but doesnt like serial.
When I run VCDS 18.9 with V7 VCDSLoader it doesnt detect cable.
So from my understanding I need to upgrade firmware if I want to use 18.9 VCDS.
AND as I dont have bootloader active I need to use wires and a programmer. (not my cup of tea).

To be honest my main problem is not being able to read modules in newer car,
Eg. 2017 Golf Lane Chge Asst 2 -- Status: INTERFACE NOT COMPATIBLE
Is there any way to read these newer modules? Alternative cable?

Any info would be highly appreciated.

1. For update your cable you need AVR ISP programmer.
2. Interface not compatible mean you need REAL Hex-V2 or REAL NET-V2 cable.
Hex-V2 China cables aren't REAL Hex-V2, are Hex K + Can. So..old type.

If someone tested v7.0 with old versions can tell results?
b.e. i saw new versions like 17.8 cannot do the same things like 15.7.1/3.

In this case i can use V7.0 with 15.7.3 ?
Yes, i know, is a different Fw, but i can write correct Fw.

i don't remember now, exist somewhere a list with Firmwares and VCDS versions where released that Fw?

Did testing. English versions.
16.8.4 +7.0 not working (failed 1)
17.1.3 + 7.0 not working (failed 1)
17.8.x + 7.0 ok
18.1 + 7.0 ok
18.2.x + 7.0 ok
18.9 + 7.0 ok

First time try to program your hw directly usb, without using external programmer.
12.12 with good bootloader can be done by usb.

I have a 2013 Octavia and a 2007 A3, can someone tell me which cable I should buy and how to flash it? I've attempted to keep update with this thread from around page 360 but it isn’t particularly clear.
