    Hello,
thread goes extremely long, it's hard to read it whole . I've bought cable 17.1.3, somewhere here I've read it's good quality, but on another page I saw almost the same PCB with the same components (both) but they were on other locations on PCB.
As I saw cable is working with 17.1.3 software without any loader.
    Here are pictures:

Can you tell me if is this good or sh1tty PCB?
And can I update it with kolimer's package to 18.2?
hwtype says it's FW 1.96 and HW 0x46, but it didn't write any info about bootloader

And one more thing I have forgotten. After update (if possible) can this cable be used with network connection ON?

This is why it pays to read whole thread. A little effort always pays off.

Holy cow, that's some rocket science. Even R0$$ didn't come up with such idea!

Why not just buy the "HEX-V2" from OBD2CT shop? It uses only ~45-65 mA and produces zero heat...

Hi hid3, because i also have this cable and I want to use it the HexV2 (Aliex) i have has a problem with the timer, it can freeze the PC anytime, i think I'll follow your advice and try the cable you advise to see the difference.

I do not know if it would be possible and useful to add an eeprom memory chip for the 162 ?

    Thanks for the advice.

    Greeting.

Just use switching dc dc converter from ali for 30 cents, with no heat dissipated... Pinout compatible to L7805

Col, if you installed the heatsink, I think it should have covered the entire metal surface of the voltage regulator for better heat dissipation.
Also, you should have used either thermal paste or thermal pads/tape for better heat conductivity between the voltage regulator and the heatsink.
