No. This is fdti chip. Update throught usb? Or you mean Flash atmega? Anyway ftdi stay there.

Hid3 said very well; read the document attached in archive.
And yes, this is the chip recomended to be desoldered. Not mandatory, is sufficient to cut the copper line like in document. But i RECOMMEND to desolder that chip if is possible. And that second reseter too. Like in photo

Hello All i got Vcds need to be Fixed but it's without Atmega chip but i manage to buy it on line only the ship atmega 162 Can i replace it with the ohter chip in my vcds ??

Mate, you just wasted your money twice. The pinouts between NEC and ATmega162 are different

Hey guys.
I've recieved today VCDS "HEX-V2" from AliExpress but I have a weird issue..
Device cannot be connected to PC with cable longer than 40cm.. yeah that's weird..
Used cable which came with device and it shows as "Ross-Tech HEX or KEY USB Interface" but with error in Device Manager "This device cannot start (Code 10)" or as Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)..
Tried different USB cables (longer than 40cm) and still nothing..
but short cable (about 40cm which I've got with arduino clone) = no problem, also succefuly flashed 1.96 flash without any problems (detected as 0x46 with Bootloader Enabled), connected to vehicle (definietly cable is too short for normal usage) without any issues.

Anyone got idea what is going on?

Hi, it's not about the cable, but about the wrong driver. You have a 0x44 PCB

Although your cable may be consuming a lot of milliamperes, turn off power savings laptop

ok, dispute opened with trader.

Contact between laptop and device is perfect, even with cable from vcds - arduino and midi controller works without any issues.

So device itself or firmware or drivers are bad.. but still I don't understand why vcds works with shorter cable
