Thanks for your help! I was actually going to do this, but @hid3 helped me get it sorted much more quickly than I probably could have myself.

try downloading the package from this post, its v 18.9.1r1 and loader v7.2

then follow the info.pdf in the loader folders to re-flash the cable and restore the firmware. it worked for my cable, i originally had similar problems when the CD delivered with my cable was unreadable. Dont forget to move the VCDSloader.exe file into the VCDS directory and always run that instead of the original VCDS.exe that gets installed by the VCDS installer package.

can somebody confirm that the actual HEX-V2 china clones works with new >=2018 cars?

The new protocol is CAN-FD and the CAN-Transciever in my cable is a ATA6561 IC with FD-Support and I still wonder why the CAN-Controller on my cable is always the old MCP2515 and not the new MCP2517FD.

For now no HEX-V2 clones.
Only classic HEX-USB+CAN in V2 looks case. With variable quality.
HEX-USB+CAN works on new cars, but is not possible connection to few controllers.

Yes, that what I mean. For a few weeks I had a Q7 in my workshop and with my old hardware cable I can't access all ECU's. Then I bought me a new HEX-V2 clone to solve the problem. Unfortunately now I have the new cable but no new car still available to test it...

So if your info is correct I could have saved myself the purchase?

I am a member of this group, I confess that I have read all the posts of this topic since the first and this time I need a help: A friend has a generic cable and is not with Bootloader enabled. I have the USBASP recorder, however I need the help of the expert friends to guide me where I should connect the pins.

I already made sure that this is a 0x46 hardware version and FTDI but I could not identify where to connect each pin one.

First condition to update/repair your cable is to have ATMEGA on PCB. I see no Atmega there, so stop looking for pinout. You have ARM based model so, if it is working use it as long as you can, if not see link(few page back) where you can buy a new one, be sure this time you get one with Atmega.
