Tested with a cheap AT162 model + v7.2
The cable is recognised and licensed, but cannot communicate all of the moduls / controllers. Eg.: 17 Instruments working, but 01 Engine isn't
So until K's next release I'll use the 18.9.1![]()

If L7.2 not work well with 18.9.1 last edition, you dream/think will work with 19.6.0? No chance.
Old vcds cable and Loader 7.2 work OK but with 18.9.0, with 18.9.1 maybe partially, so is recomended 18.9.0 for this maximum.
Vcds 19.x don't support any more time old Vcds cables.
So new version 19.x works just with Vcds Hex v2 and Vcds Net (oryginal) but any way all clone Hex v2 is still the same what old vcds (so is recomended the same vcds 18.9.0 +loader 7.2+hex v2) is just diffrent case/cover and maybe bga chips, little diffrent manufacture but Firmware isnthe same what Old vcds.
Problem is not yet on china market true china HEX V2 (if iam wrong please correct me).

Bought cable no. 2 with premium link for Dk members at obd2cartool . But as of now its useless, because its not possible to establish a connection to any of my cars (passat b6, golf 6). CAN: not ready . When i try to do an auto scan the message " funktion not available on gateway" . When i try to open Engine, the message " Gateway not responding" appears. Flashed the cable several times, with kolimers tool, installed Different drivers, reinstalled vcds, tried other Version of vcds but nothing helps.
Of course i tried at different Computer, but the same shit. Could it be the cable is damaged? I have another crappy aliexpress cable, which is working fine on my cars and on my Computers.
Somebody knows how to fix This?
Release notes on Ross-Tech site:
Release 19.6 must be used with a licensed Ross-Tech interface. That includes all genuine HEX-, KEY-, KII-, or Micro-CAN series Interface of interfaces.
...
All model-year 2019 and newer cars require one of our current interfaces. Although this Release of VCDS still supports every interface Ross-Tech has sold since 2004, none of our legacy interfaces such as the HEX+CAN and Micro-CAN are will work with 2019 model cars.
So we can use HEX-CAN cable with the latest release, and the app's databese is bigger, but this version with this cable not supports more than a 18.9 release.

It's a good think, now you can use HEX-CAN for software where basically was using with HEX V2 and HEX NET only.
I think they realise they lost more than expected, i think the selling tools went down in last period, not everyone can afford to buy hex net and hex v2 so they gave up to have one.
Also HEX-CAN sales went down significantly because could't work with last models, so now they decide to go up again with hex can sales and will pause other version.
Everything is marketing but Ross Tech strategy was wrong from beginning.

Did you follow the video posted here a few pages back? It is not very easy but it is doable. The video was posted here: https://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forum...=1#post3573218
On the other hand, today I got the cable I ordered from Aliexpress and internally it is identical to the one from obd2cartool, but it comes with a CD with drivers, with Kolimer loader, VCDS 18.9.0 and mprog.exe and various pdfs with instructions, including a video. The cable works out of the box.
It took about twice as long to be delivered compared to the cable from obd2!
I would still prefer to buy the one from obd2 although it has no software and no firmware installed, because of the delivery time difference and the possibility to pay with Paypal.

Approx the same thing here:
30 September 2018:
VCDS Release 18.9 is now available on our Download Page .
This version includes support for new 2019 model cars, as well as a number of other enhancements and improvements. This release works with all genuine Ross-Tech interfaces made since 2004, but support for 2019 model cars requires a current generation interface. Upgrades for registered users of older interfaces are available here.
They saw the same thing few time ago.
