I would consider separately the problems of clones and originals.
Auto-scanning with original software ( v19.6.0.7 ) and original cable:

I'd really appreciate if someone could link or upload all the "possibly working with loader v8" original versions of vcds (18.9.0, 18.9.1, 19.x.x, etc) because at this point I tested the latest one from website, and it was doing all kinds of wonky stuff.

I also tried 19.6.0.5 and it detected the cable when it was not connected to the car but did not detect it when it was connected.

I'm think I should try 18.9.0/18.9.1 now but couldn't find a section of older versions on website.

NVM. I think I figured out that after the flash older versions won't recognize the cable anymore.

I was misled by the "Interface: Not Found!" messages during initial tests. Turns out it's an intermittent thing and does not depend on the versions I was testing, it was just a coincidence.

On the other hand though, I deduced that cable is connecting intermittently and that's why the interface was not found sometimes and why when it is found, I get so many connection errors while trying to access various modules.

Pointers would be nice at this point.

Just fyi, I have 2015 A3 and 2012 Q5 at my disposal and same thing happens on both. Sometimes the connection errors are rare and sometimes I can't even connect to a single module, I don't see any pattern to explain it.

Sometimes this happens if the cable is marked "Clone" (random imitation of failures). See the post #8457.

Sorry my amateur question, I tried to collect all informations in this topic, but I can't see the light on the end of the tunnel. I have an 2019 Skoda Octavia, and i would like to buy a cheaper cable, and use it wit VCDS (as i hink as well, I need the newest VCDS).
If someone can sum up, what can i do, and recommend a cable, I will be happy.

Good suggestion. I downloaded the c-test.exe. Run it, but readings were weird and inconsistent, so I just flashed the cable again from kolimer's zip.

Now everything is working nice and proper (as nice as it gets on MQB), running very first version of VCDS 19.
