    Please can anyone recommend where to buy a hex can v1 clone which I can use to debug issues on my A4 b8 2008

    I've seen one on fleabay with title :

    USB VAG CAN PRO S.W Ver 5.5.1 V DIAGNOSTIC SCANNER TOOL for VW AUDI SEAT/ SKODA

    Will this do the trick?

    Thanks AJ

    hi, i just bought new cable V2 from obd2cartool.com and also ISP USBASP download programmer because my old vag 15 has got disabled bootloader. I wish to fix also this cable v15 for a gift.

    this is info from hw type:
    Code:
    FT Description : Ross-Tech HEX-USB
    FT Chip ID     : 0x38BDD1BE
    FW Version     : 1.94

    this is info from C-test:

      FT_Chip ID   : 0x38BDD1BE

    SW Version  : 1.94

    Stop looking for soldering points...

    Did you see Atmega 162 Au on PCB?

    I think you have there a NEC cip...no dumps for it. Someone post a solution - for NEC , if you have time to search on this topic...you migth find it.

    Alexm1, you're absolutely right, this is NEC (chip name D79F8513A), sh it... cable is closed for updates
    this is another reason to buy cable only from obd2cartool.com

    do you think i can remove this NEC and solder for example this atmel 44 leg:
    https://pl.aliexpress.com/item/32786749025.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.4016388 c7s2Qmk&algo_pvid=0cd0fe8b-03e4-4c0b-a0c0-62b25f994601&algo_expid=0cd0fe8b-03e4-4c0b-a0c0-62b25f994601-0&btsid=166a4b22-b5b5-46cd-91c4-6b63e342e0d4&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb2016 02_3,searchweb201603_52

    maybe this could be possible but probably i will not get atmega flash file

    Stop dreaming. Atmega162 is not equivalent with Nec D79F...
    Buy another cable with Atmega162, a good one (read on this topic from where) and can make updates with known solution

    Default VAGCOM cable HW verson question

    Hello Friends.
    I have an old USB VAG COM cable with ATMega162 and FT232RL. Firm ver 1.84 and VCDS ver 11.11.2.
    I want to upgrade it for using with my new audi A3.
    Before flashing I read quite a few posts and dowloaded all neccesary resouces.
    First I ran the VAGCOM_HWType.exe. It reported "Interface not found". However the driver of the cable was OK because VCDS 11.11.2 worked well.
    Then I tried to program the FT232 chip by writing "ftdi_mprog_RLRQ.ept" to the FT232RL. Succeeded. Then I installed the new driver successfully.
    Now trying VAGCOM_HWTye.exe again and it reported:
    HWtype.jpg

    Glad to see that the boot loader was enabled but the HW version "0X46" confused me, because I learned from various places that if the pin34/35 of ATMEGA were connected to the PLD(ATF16V8), the HW version should be "0X44", which is exactly my case:
    0x44.jpg

    Anyway I proceeded. Successfully refreshed the avr162 with one-click tool "VAGCOM_EEWriteLang.exe" —— with flash & EEPROM for "0x46" HW.
    The cable seems working with 19.6.1 on my old fabia but I'm still a little worring. Does any one know if I did something wrong?

    Hello,
    I upgraded my original hex-can usb to hex net pro, using ross-tech uprade option.
    Old one must be destroid, but in the matter of fact, i have it.
    It would be stupid to use it in laptop with internet i think, because my new one can be blocked for that "joke"
    So its interesting now, can it be reflashed, serial number changed..in other words- can original became a clone ? Can i find right dump for it ?
    Thanks.

    I'm pretty sure they have already blacklisted it anyway.
    The blacklist will be populated upon next version, as well, if you connect it to existing V(D$ or "V.exe /update" runs which is on startup, the interface will be permanently bricked
    I can calculate ABS module codings for:
    * Continental/Teves MK60EC1 and MK60;
    * TRW systems in Passat B6 / B7 / CC /Tiguan;
    * MK100
    ;
    * Bosch ABS8.2, ABS9.0 and ESP8.2, ESP9.0;
    * EBC 460 (UP!, Mii, Rapid, CitiGo, Fabia, Toledo, etc) New!
    *
    ... and other VW/Audi/Seat/Skoda modules.I can assist with repairing \/CDS interfaces.

    Thanks. Update is asking to update, but if i will not install it and just use current one version...so it can't be blacklisted.. I think.. or am i wrong..

    Yes you can if your cable was built with chip ATMEGA162.
    It would be a little bit difficult if you don't have any experience in firmware upgrading or even soldering.
    However the cable is dead already, why not try to do something?
