Since we can only use these cables on older cars (before MQB platform), do we actually need latest version?

Why not stick with 18.9 or whatever version works 100% ?

HI all - please treat a novice gently :-)
I bought a VCDS cable and software (19.6.0) but cant get it to work on my Octavia Mk3 (2016). It reports the interface is out of date / this model is not supported.
the guy who sold it is being quite helpful but is moving towards the 'You've damaged it, its not my fault' position So can anyone tell me if 19.6.0 actually works with the Mk3 Octavia - or is the question more complicated than that?

i have vagcom clone cable 18.2, i installed VCDS 18.2.0 and copied VCDSLOADER.exe to VCDS folder. i then plugged it into the car, the LED goes green, but when i hit test i get (Status: not plugged into the car). 20200425_010003.jpg20200425_010304.jpg

Please advise how to solve this issue

you have to upgrade it via USBasp, you will find the tutorial in the loader folder.

First try to write Fw+EEprom with an USB-ISP programmer. If ok, that is, if not:
U3 have a stain on it. Is paint or is exploded? If exploded..complicate for you: must reprogrammed another new one and replaced.
If not, try extract U10. Work? Lucky. Not work? Ft232R replace.

It says it works with coming updates of VCDS so not a specific version.

This one can read the MQB platform as wel.
It’s mostly for my own car I will use the cable (Audi A4 Y2020) but i wil also use it on other cars from friend etc.
Just looking for a decent cable who covers the most platform and is future proof.

Hello!

Now I'm using the version 18.9.1 for VCDS, and I keep getting a "CAN: Not Ready" after hitting the TEST button. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the software and the USB driver with different version (19.6.0, 18.9.0, etc.). I've tried different USB ports, different notebooks, different VAG cars (SKODA Octavia 2007, VW Polo 2012, VW Passat 2011 etc.)
I did get it to successfully connect for a few times, but i just tried for about 30 mins, and kept getting the "CAN: Not Ready" message, and none of the diagnostics tools work. I have the cable buyed from here: https://www.obd2cartool.com/atmega-v...hipping-p-1554
I've Restored Defaults, and everything. Nothing helps... Thoughts?

Last Time on Audi A6 year 2013 engine like Sq5 have get no asam data missing
And some other car like polo 2011 and golf 7 fonction mesured value case number 8 on Vcds are not available
Does it normal ? There another best version fully working

Please, use "Advanced measuring values". This is normal behavior for newer cars.
