704 version didn't have check for R family of FTDI chips, so that is why it's working. When 805 came out, devices was supplied now with R chips. R chips have unique sn, which can't be changed, so, Uwe figure out to make sn from Atmega to depend on sn from FTDI. So, you have some tree created: Devices with FT232B and devices with FT232R.

Hi, I have 10.6 interface which never worked- when I've got it said error -1 and software didn't won't to start. Interface has FTDI232BL inside, and doesn't have STC chip. I reprogrammed it with 805dump and everything works fine, but if I unplug it from computer and plug again, interface is no more recognized as Ross Tech. Then I have to program it again with .ept file, and again works only for one time until is plugged into computer and car, after when i unplugged it again to same problem. What is wrong?
Nice work guys. Thanks.

When you have that eror and the softwear dosen't start, that is a chinese cracked softwear and you need for it a VCDS with Ft232RL inside.
That sw it is made for that kind of interface.
If you have a FT232BL inside reprogramm it with dumps ( you can find it in this thread ) and you'll use an original ross-tech softwear not that one that your interface came with it.
Good luck
