    You need to reflash the FDTI eeprom with good .EPT file

    Where did you get that from? Have you version 908.ept?

    It is not necessary to know exactly,step by step,how did the interface work.I think,I will do nothing with my cable.Maybe in future,if will be 10.6 version for freeIt is risk to do something bad and new clones costs low prices.Original cable costs not a lot.But it is good to learn about structure of interface.Most of automotive devices are build in similar manner(CPU-eeprom-flash),so it's good to learn.
    Perhaps it's impossible to built 10.6 version hardware interface on the 805 (812) base without serious changes?

    It's not impossible trust me you just need a little practice and patience
