Something I notified on VCDS clones (at least for ARM based ones).
Running VCDS directly (without loader) seems to work at first : you can use [Auto-Scan], [Adv. Meas. Values], testing VCDS license and USB connection is OK, ...
However, the following will not work :
- [Output Test] fails (regardless module tested). I tested it on the [08 Instrument]. The dashboard completely went black (OMG moment) then got error from VCDS. It still working

- It complains about "No ROD file found" for some modules.
- Sometimes a "Require valid license" error dialog is shown. Sometimes not (for same feature).

Starting VCDS using loader seems to fix all of those issues.

Security codes worked (S12345 was suggested by vcds). This was on Engine and 5F modules. Autoscan worked also.

The interface would not work without the loader.

BTW, what is the latest version of the loader?

Same for you, try with German VCDS 22.10, please.

It really looks like the DRV version has some difference, or the VIIPlusloader has some bug making security codes only work for the german version. Weird.

I’m very new to cloned cables. I’ve got a Golf MK7 2013. Could someone recommend where to buy a HEX V2 clone cable that works and is firmware upgradable etc. I’m a tech geek and from what I’ve read for each version of VCDS + the loader the cable would need to be reflashed, is that true? Help would be greatly appreciated. (Reason I’m looking in to this is because I have a ACC error on my car)

Did you see my post above yours? It worked for me. What module are you trying to access with security code? Did you try 5F as this is working fine for me?

I did not try any other modules. I deleted a few errors, set Developer mode on. All successful.

I tried same on an MEB platform car (electric VW ID3) but a lot of modules "Cannot be reached". Anyone else tried MEB platform?

Well, you said you had tested 22.9 in your post, which is known to work. See #11944.
Thanks for testing 23.3! Would you mind testing 22.10 with loader 08.022.05 as well? It's possible that VIIPlusloader for 23.3 was fixed and only 22.10 is broken

Maybe I'm missing something, why do you want to use 22.10 if 22.9 is newer and is known to work?

22.9 is older. 9 < 10

Just to clarify, I don't care at all for the english version (native german here). Just wanted to help others with these comparisons and tests.

btw. S12345 is not a security code. It only changes the session mode (Engineering mode IIRC). Security codes are numerical only.

I finally understand badrax effort and what's the deal with those clones.

First I have been thinking, "why the hell would those Chinese guys try to protect their software (VIILoader)" That loader is a basically a hack/crack for VCDS, it's free and easily downloadable (like most stuff like that on the internet).

But now I understand :
The VCDS clones contains some specific code/firmware and use a protocol that only people behind VII Loader know how they work.
That way nobody else can make a clone of VCDS clone cable (and thus eat parts of that juicy market).

Make sense now.
